A local favorite activity to do on the weekends in Northern Palm Beach County and Martin County is to attend one of the area’s best local green markets. This weekend the weather is expected to be nice and sunny this Memorial Day weekend, perfect to spend the day outside shopping some of the best local and homemade goods.

Martin County is home to Jonathan Dickinson State Park. The Florida State Park sits between Palm Beach County’s Tequesta and Martin County’s Hobe Sound, and just a few miles north of Jupiter. The park is named after a Quaker merchant named Jonathan Dickinson that wreaked his boat off the coast in 1696.

The park’s area served as an Army base and home to Camp Murphy during the second World War. Today, the barracks are still visible throughout the park.  Following the war, in 1947 the land was transferred back to Florida to be used as a state park. Jonathan Dickinson State Park officially opened to the public in 1950 and is one of the area’s most visited parks.

On the second Saturday of every month, Hobe Sound hosts a Second Saturday Food Truck event. Head to the charming area of Hobe Sound for a day filled with great food, live music, and friendly neighbors.

The Food Truck event is being held at Broward Motorsports Treasure Coast located along SE Federal Highway. Normally the event is held along Bridge Road and SE Dixie Highway, but this month the location has changed. 

The day includes rows of food trucks making delicious food made fresh to order from local and regional Food Trucks.  The days will also include merchandise discounts, demo rides, and live music by The Kinected.

This upcoming weekend, help celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Hobe Sound Festivals of the Arts. The festival is returning for another year and will feature some of the nation’s top artists and skilled craft artisans.

The festival is a community event and celebration held on Dixie Highway from Bridge Road to Venus Street. Every year the festival brings thousands of people to browse through the festive art marketplace. The festival will feature goods for sale such as life-size sculptures, spectacular paintings, one-of-a-kind jewels, photography, ceramics, and much more.

In a meeting held by Governor DeSantis yesterday, that he plans on opening up Florida to all professional sports teams that want to resume activity. 

DeSantis said” all professional sports are welcome here for practicing and for playing”. The conference was held yesterday afternoon in Tallahassee. DeSantis also mentioned that “if you have a team in a area that won’t let you practice, we’ll find a place for you here in Florida”. 

The news is coming a month after Florida Division of Emergency Management agreed that professional sports are considered an essential service and were allowed to resume play in Florida, provided they are closed to the general public.  The governor made a comment stating that while professional sports might not necessarily…

Located between Hobe Sound and Tequesta is the Jonathan Dickinson State Park. The State Park is home to 16 distinct natural communities that make up the park. 

The 10,500-acre park was named after Jonathan Dickinson, a Quaker merchant who became shipwrecked off the coast nearby in 1696.  The grounds in World War II were used as a secret training school and camp called Camp Murphy with over 6,600 men. Following the war the land became now known as Jonathan Dickinson State Park in 1950.

Hobe Sound is centrally located between the Jupiter and Stuart. Every month the Chamber of Commerce in Hobe Sound hosts several meetings and community events for everyone to attend, including the monthly Food Truck events held in the Fall until the Spring.
