Children searching for crabs, attempting to catch small fish in the mangroves, and just splashing around as moms chatted knowing the kids were safe in the shallow water. The estuary is a joy to explore. DuBois Park has a rich history. Within the park is a house made of Florida pine that was once home to early Florida pioneers, Harry and Susan DuBois. Mr. and Mrs. Dubois bought eighteen acres on the southside of the Jupiter Inlet that he had respected for its ridge of Native American shell mound.

The Andrew “Red” Harris Foundation has been building reefs off the Palm Beach County coastline for several years. The Andrew “Red” Harris Foundation was created to honor the memory of Andrew Harris, a local young man, who was struck by a boat while snorkeling in the Jupiter Inlet. Andrew loved to dive and fish, and the foundation’s work will help ensure the long-term health and vibrancy of the local marine environment.

The foundation began a substantial education initiative in 2018. The goal was to donate a 5-book set of the “Professor Clark the Science Shark” series to every third-grade classroom in Florida, 55,000 books in all! The goal was met!

Children love the story of the little boy, Andrew, who becomes a lifelong friend with an orphaned…

“Mardi Gras,” is French for “Fat Tuesday.”  Fat Tuesday is the last day before Lent. Lent is the season of fasting and prayer observed by most Christian denominations in the forty days leading up to Easter. A time for carefree celebration, Mardi Gras traditionally served to balance out the solemnity of the days that follow. To prepare for Lent, religious people emptied their pantries of indulgences like eggs, lard, and sugar. Using up the supplies as it was frowned upon by many Christian denominations during the 40-day Lenten fast. Therefore, a big part of Fat Tuesday is eating an abundance of delicious fried food—especially donuts, cakes, and pastries.

This day of indulgence is also called Shrove Tuesday. It is a name that comes from the practice…
