For six brown pelicans, freedom was only a few flaps of their wings away. Two adult and four juvenile pelicans were released back into the wild last week by Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.  Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife hospital and education center headquartered in the Town of Jupiter since 1983.

For nearly two months, the pelicans were patients at the sanctuary's wildlife hospital. Some had been treated for injuries incurred after they became entangled in fishing gear. The others were treated for exhaustion because of migration.

The Andrew “Red” Harris Foundation has been artificial reef building over the past 7 years. The Foundation is in Jupiter and pursued the foundation's mission of "enhancing and protecting the marine environment" by raising over $2 million to build over 1.5 miles of new reefs offshore of Jupiter and Juno Beach.

The Foundation was created to honor the memory of Andrew Harris who was struck by a boat while snorkeling in the Jupiter Inlet on June 8, 2014. The foundation’s work will help assure the long-term health and vibrancy of the local marine environment where Andrew loved to dive and fish.

The Easter Bunny is hoppin’ into J-Town on a special mission this spring. The Easter Bunny is hiding nine eggs at multiple parks and around the Town of Jupiter municipal complex for children to find in a self-guided scavenger hunt. The Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt eggs.

The eggs will be hidden daily until to April 4. The first 500 participants to find all nine eggs and reveal the Easter Bunny’s secret message will receive an Easter giveaway bag.

The latest update regarding Jupiter’s U.S. One bridge is that it may be postponed. The Jupiter U.S. One bridge may not close for replacement until 2023. 

The temporary detour for the bridge construction will begin in the spring of 2023 and will take approximately 20 months. Construction is scheduled to be complete in mid-2025. Click HERE for the complete article.

Community foundations typically accept charitable donations and grant funds to a wide variety of causes, such as community services, the arts, education, the environment, health, and disaster relief within a specific geographic region. Here in Jupiter the Waterfront Way Foundation gifted Jupiter High School students a glistening new school bus as a holiday gift following a match-by-match donation. A total of $107,000 was raised for the new motor vehicle.

Floridians already knew that this is one of the best states to live in and now it has been confirmed by U.S. News & World Report!  Florida ranked No. 10 in U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of best states in the country. It also ranks among the top five states in education and among the top 10 states in the economy and fiscal stability categories. As a Florida resident, it is hard to believe that the beaches of Jupiter, nightlife in South Beach, and infamous Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, that Florida did not rank higher in the standings.

This St. Patrick’s Day follow the rainbow to the pot of gold at McCarthy’s Pub, 518 U.S. Highway One in Tequesta. Open from 2 to 10 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day, they will have food specials and live music by Billy Kamalay from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by Jimmy Gallagher from 5 p.m. to close. 

McCarthy's has been a Jupiter and Tequesta staple for over 45 years. McCarthy’s Pub has changed locations a few times, however the restaurants philosophy remains the same: to treat every guest as family, provide a welcoming meal, comforting liquid refreshment and a good time. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre, 1001 East Indiantown Road, Jupiter, is presently undergoing a $30 million expansion. They are ahead of schedule, taking advantage of down time during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The work is expected to be complete by October 2021, in time for next season. The renovation also includes an innovative dining experience, expanded Conservatory and lobby, redesigned entrance and a second 199-seat theater space.
