This January, Palm Beach Gardens is hosting their first Annual Gardens 5K Trailblazer walk and run. All are welcomed to join in on the family friendly designated 5K.

The 5K will be taking place on Saturday, January 11th at the new Gardens North County District Park on 117th Court North in Palm Beach Gardens. Those who participate in the 5k or 3.1 mile walk or run will be on paved surface as well as a two mile unpaved surface through the scenic nature trail. The 5K consists of both male and female age groups ranging from ages 5 and up.

After the 5K, all are invited to join in on a Public Safety Day from 10 am to 1 pm. The Public Safety Day will include live demonstrations and activities hosted by the City of Palm Beach Gardens Fire and Police Departments.

Every Friday morning during the month of January, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their reoccurring popular Hammock Hike. The Hammock Hike is in honor of Gopher Tortoise Day on April 10th where the center will be leading the hike through Loggerhead Park.

The Hammock Hike includes members of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center staff leading a hike through the park to explore the Gopher tortoise habitat, to learn more about tortoises and maybe even see one along the journey. The Gopher tortoises are keystone species and have a huge impact on the ecosystem they live in. Today, the Gopher tortoise population is declining due to habitat loss, morality and illness.

The Palm Beach International Polo Season started this December 29th and last until mid-April 2020. Thousands of equestrians and Polo lovers flock to Palm Beach County’s Wellington every year to see some of the best Polo matches in the world.

Wellington is known as the Equestrian Capital of the world and the most popular destination for the Equestrian lifestyle. The Palm Beach International Polo Club and the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center are both located in Wellington.

Two restaurants in Palm Beach County have made the list of the “Top 100 Restaurants in America” List for 2019. Palm Beach County was the only county in Florida to have two restaurants make the list.

OpenTable, the online reservation making, and review website conducted a survey which included 27 states. The newly released list includes Palm Beach Island’s Buccan and Krave located in Tequesta. The two local favorites are among 7 restaurants in Florida that have made the list.

The Honda Classic has been named the “Most Fan First Event” on the PGA Tour at the Annual Best Awards event this year. The Fan Friendly award was presented to The Honda Classic Golf Tournament that is held in Palm Beach Gardens every year.

The Honda Classic tournament made its move to Palm Beach Gardens PGA National Resort and Spa in 2007 and this is the second time the tournament was recognized by the PGA Tour for its excellence in fan engagement. The Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society teams up with Florida Power and Light for the holiday light display at the zoo. The light display is called Zoo Lights and happens every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night during the month of December.

The new holiday tradition is for all and includes over one million eco-friendly holiday lights scattered around the Palm Beach Zoo. The holiday lights will be illuminated starting at 6 pm until 10 pm on certain nights during the week. The front entrance will feature unique themed displays of the Florida Wetlands and the Tropics of the Americas.

Downtown At The Gardens, the outdoor shopping and lifestyle center is about to undergo a name change for 2020. The Downtown at the Gardens will now be known as Downtown Palm Beach Gardens.

ShopCore Properties, the owners and operators of the 49-acre center announced this December that the center will be changing its name. In addition to the name change, the center will be adding a state-of-the- art Ride Share Lounge, Voodoo Bayou Restaurant and Subculture Coffee. Also coming soon is a new Lifetime Athletic Center, a resort-style fitness club that broke ground on a 3-story exercise facility with a spa, exercise classes and rooftop bistro.
