A lively little speakeasy on the Singer Island has quite a backstory. As the legend goes, McCoy was a moonshiner here in South Florida during the times of Prohibition.  He had a hidden speakeasy and a reputation for the best moonshine. People from all walks of life came to indulge in his spirits. To hide from authorities, McCoy had livestock and goats on his land.  The only problem was that the goats would knock over the stills and drink the moonshine.  Guests of the speakeasy loved to watch the drunken goats and relish the evening.

Singer Island is an island just off Florida’s southeast coast. It is officially within the city limits of Riviera Beach and part of Palm Beach County. Singer Island runs East and West across Lake Worth Lagoon and Highway 703 which runs North and South down through the John D MacArthur Beach State Park onto the island. To be specific, Singer Island is not an island per se because it’s connected to the mainland by the state Park.

Palm Beach County divers take a dive to a 60,000-pound mermaid sculpture reef. This area has many reefs to dive offshore. This underwater landmark honors a local three-time breast cancer survivor. “Andrea's Reef”, an enormous mermaid honoring the courageous woman.  “Andreas Reef” has is located just 3/4 miles east off the Lake Worth Inlet, submerged under 75 feet of water. The sculptures for the reef were deployed off Ocean Reef Park on Singer Island, August 11, 2016.
