Polo is a game played between two teams on horseback who use mallets to drive a wooden ball down the field to score against the opposing team. Polo is the oldest equestrian sport and is played in Wellington. The sport came to the United States in the 1950’s and the first polo club opened in 1954 in Palm Beach, nearby where the airport is today.

Today, Wellington is known for all things equestrian and is known as the Equestrian Capital of the World. Sunday night, January 20th, the moon will turn red over the United States during the last total lunar eclipse of the decade. A total lunar eclipse happens during a full moon when the moon completely passes through the Earth’s shadow. This causes the moon to turn a dark red or a rusty orange color.
