For two weeks, Floridians across the state will be able to save money by taking advantage of this tax free shopping holiday on the purchase of select items for the new 2022 school year. Palm Beach County shoppers will have the opportunity to take advantage of savings on eligible purchases of apparel, school supplies, and electronic devices like laptops, desktops, and tablets. The Florida Back to School sales tax holiday is July 25 to August 7, 2022, when there will be no state sales tax on qualifying items. Students and non-students are welcome to purchase tax-exempt items.

In Florida, state sales taxes are 6 percent or $6 for every $100 spent. Individual qualifying items must be within designated price limits.There is no limit on eligible

Happy hour-loving amigos in Palm Beach County mark your calendar for blue agave-drenched libations on National Tequila Day, July 24, 2022. Did you know that tequila dates to 1000 BC? During that time, Indigenous Mexican tribes would grow and ferment agave. As we know it today, tequila will not get produced until the mid-1600s. There are no rules to celebrating National Tequila Day. People should have fun during the holiday but be responsible at the same time. The City of Boynton Beach hosts a fun family event called the “First Friday @ 5 Concert”. Mark your calendars for the next first Friday of the month concert on August 5th, 2022. The event is filled with food trucks, eco-friendly kids’ activities, live music, and much more. 

This month's free family-friendly concert will feature the Stray Dog Band. The event is geared toward guests of all ages. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and enjoy the fresh air and fun from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

There is flower art to be found in a Palm Beach Gardens space. Within the Palm Beach County Gardens Branch Library, 11303 Campus Drive in Palm Beach Gardens is "Garden Gate" by Garth Edwards. The Palm Beach County Art in Public Places program allows projects to come about. The program is managed by the Facilities Development and Operations Department of Palm Beach County. 

At the Gardens Library is an installation designed and fabricated by artist Garth Edwards, “Garden Gate” is inspired by Palm Beach Gardens' early vision of the town becoming a "Garden City". Broward County has 26 miles of coastline, 24 miles of which are monitored for turtle nesting activity by the Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program. Broward County is considered a “medium-density” nesting area by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and hosts an average of 2,000 nests annually.

Sea turtles are marine reptiles that have been around since the time of the dinosaurs, over 110 million years ago. There are seven species of sea turtles worldwide and five species found in Florida. These sea turtles are protected by federal law. Broward County protects sea turtles by supporting efforts to conserve their nesting and in-water habitats.

The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival will celebrate 32 years of its annual tradition this summer, with a live performance of William Shakespeare's Richard II. Sunday, July 17, 2022, is the last performance of the season in the Jupiter area. Future performances will be held in Royal Palm Beach later this month.

Organizers said if you have only read Shakespeare, you are missing out. “Because it was never written to be read. Shakespeare wrote plays and, of course, the sonnets to be read, but the plays were written in order to be performed," co-producer of the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival Elizabeth Dashiell said. "The reason why they are still performed around the world to this day is because he wrote about the human experience.

Thousands of marine animals globally have been affected by plastic pollution, including sea turtles, seabirds, and marine mammals. Beach clean-ups are vital to mitigate the problem caused by ocean debris and the danger that plastic pollution poses to marine life.
