As the first day of summer fast approaches, what better way than to spend it having fun at local water park. Rapids Water Park announced that they officially opened their gates last Friday, June 5th for the summer season.

The Park and its managers have said that they will be introducing a new SafeSplash Guidelines to help keep everyone healthy and safe.  Some of the guidelines include: social distancing ground markers, reducing the parks capacity to 50% percent, wellness checks for both employees and guests, and adding additional hand sanitizing stations throughout the park.

As beaches open in Miami, South Florida continues to move forward in its return to normalcy. There are, however, some rules.

Here are the new hours:

Virginia Key Beach Park/North Point: Beach open from 9:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Park open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Historic Virginia Key Beach Park: Open Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday – Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Below are new rules that will be enforced at all Miami beaches:

  • Do not use beach if you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19

  • Face masks are required when entering/exiting the beach; when walking around the beach and paths; and when utilizing the bathroom

Martin County, like many counties in Florida has entered Phase Two of Reopening South Florida last week. Nearby counties Palm Beach County, Broward County and Miami-Dade County are still waiting to hear back from Governor DeSantis on whether they can enter Phase Two. Several places across Palm Beach County have partnered together to help bring that summer camp experience and activities to your home. Four local organizations, Manatee Lagoon, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Lion Country Safari and the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society have partnered to reveal their Wild About Wildlife Virtual Summer Camp Program.

For the first time since the PGA Tour announced a stop to its season back on March 13, tournament golf will be resuming this week.

Both the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour will resume their 2019-2020 seasons beginning on Thursday, marking the end to the 91-day layoff. The PGA Tour resumes its season on Thursday at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, while the Korn Ferry Tour will be playing the newly created Korn Ferry Challenge at TPC Sawgrass on the Dye's Valley Course.

Palm Beach County tourism officials and leaders are hoping this news will make people more comfortable traveling to and visiting the area.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach recently announced that sea turtles are thriving during the COVID-19 pandemic and during the beach closures. From mid-March to Mid-May the beaches in Palm Beach County were closed to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Since the beaches have been previously closed for two months, the center noticed a change in the sea turtle’s behavior and in their nesting habits. The turtles were nesting more efficiently and a little quicker than normal because of the beach closures.
