Jingle Bells

The holiday classic "Jingle Bells" was originally written for Thanksgiving, not Christmas. The song was written in 1857 by James Lord Pierpont and published under the title “One Horse Open Sleigh”. It was supposed to be played in the composer’s Sunday school class during Thanksgiving as a way to commemorate the famed Medford sleigh races. “Jingle Bells” was also the first song to be broadcast from space.

Camelot in West Palm Beach is hosting a White Christmas party this Saturday, the 22nd. The dates for the 2018 Holiday Adventure Camp have been announced and spots are filling up fast. The camp will feature an array of outdoor activities, including kayaking, canoeing, biking, fishing, and environmental education. The camp is fully accredited through the American Camp Association.

Two different camps are being offered. One from December 26th through the 28th and again from December 31st through January 4th. The beloved Christmas movie is coming to the Harbourside Place Amphitheater tomorrow Friday, December 21st in Jupiter. 

The holiday favorite came out in 2003 and stars Will Ferrell, Bob Newhart, Zooey Deschanel and James Caan. The movie is about a baby boy that crawled into Santa’s bag at an orphanage in New York and travelled with him to the North Pole. The young boy was discovered at the end of the night at Santa’s workshop and was named Buddy and spent his childhood being raised by elves. Buddy then travels to New York City to find his real family after overhearing he is not an elf and bring Christmas cheer to his family and New York City.
