The Funky Buddha Brewery has a new annual tradition to celebrate the return of their popular Maple Bacon Coffee Porter. 

This "breakfast in a glass" is a craft beer brew was names one of the best in People Magazine and rated world's second best porter by BeerAdvocate.com. It became famous upon its release at Funky Buddha's original brewery in Boca Raton in 2011. Each year since, the brewery hosts a full-on festival to mark the limited bottle release. 

The festival includes live music, street food from local trucks, and more than 100 specialty beers from Funky Buddha and guests.

The party is on Saturday, January 13th from 1- 5 p.m. at Funky Buddha in Fort Lauderdale.

Earlier this week the Florida Chamber Foundation, Florida's non-partisan, nonprofit research organization, announced that it anticipates the state to become a $1 trillion economy by the end of 2018 and will create 180,000 jobs across Florida this year, once again exceeding the U.S. economy in job growth.

A new French-inspired restaurant is expected to open this January on Royal Poinciana Way in Palm Beach. The new restaurant is taking over the former location of Nick and Johnnie’s, which ended its nine-year run in the fall.

The restaurant will be called Maven, and is a collaboration between Chef W. Scott Osif, Nantucket restauranteur David Silvia, and Kevin Anderson, the director of operations.

The trio are known for their work at two popular Nantucket restaurants, Gallery Beach and Afterhouse. Silvia, also founded Lola 41, and Lola Burger, both in Nantucket as well.

As the new Offshore Drilling Plan just passed in the U.S., President Trump has taken the state of Florida off the list of offshore fracking sites.

The original plan was to largely expand oil drilling in the Atlantic, Arctic, and Pacific oceans. This included several drilling operations off the coast of Florida, however drilling is now blocked.

The reason is to preserve the clean waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean off the southern coast of the country. 

Florida is also important economically, with a multibillion-dollar tourism business dependent upon its miles of sparkling blue water and white sandy beaches.

The 2108 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study finds that most homeowners and buyers prioritized storage over all other kitchen uses. Of the 1,700 interviewed, 63% chose storage as the number one desired function of the kitchen. 

Homeowners preparing to sell are remodeling their kitchens to add more storage and organization, with features like revolving corner trays, deep drawer organizers, swing-out shelves.

Houzz also found that another common feature among those remodeling is countertops. Engineered quartz is the new favorite kitchen countertop material over granite. Many are opting for an island- to show off more of those beautiful counters and for added storage.
