He might have had to travel all the way to China to get it, but Dustin Johnson now has a World Golf Championship title to add to his resume.

Playing in the WGC-HSBC Champions at Sheshan International lead for three out of the four rounds and finished with a 6-under par 66 on Sunday to win by three shots over Ian Poulter. Setting a tournament record with a four day total of 24-under par, the Loxahatchee River resident also won 550 FedEx Cup points. This year's edition of the WGC-HSBC Champions awarded FedEx Cup points for the first time in the tournament's history as it became part of the 2013-2014 wrap around schedule.

Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course closed on June 1st to undergo a $2.5 million renovation project and the wait for golfers to get back on the picturesque course is almost over.

Palm Beach Gardens golf course will re-open its doors to both members and the public on December 9th, six months after it closed down for enhancements and renovations. Several projects have been worked on and completed for the past several months including a new irrigation system, installation of TifEagle greens, Celebration tees and fairways, new drainage systems in several wet areas, new bunkers and bunker aesthetics, laser-leveling of tee tops, and landscaping.

While south Florida enjoys warm temparatures throughout the year, there will be a feeling of fall in the air in Palm Beach Gardens this Friday.

That's because the Palm Beach Gardens Recreation Center will host its annual Fall Festival from 6-8pm at the Burns Road facility. The free festival will include live music, a trick-or-treat trail and a candy corn count. Residents and guests attending the event are encouraged to dress in costume and bring trick-or-treat bags. Food and drink will also be available for purchase.

This weekend, Abacoa Golf Club will become the next stop on the 2013 Palm Beach County Golf Association championship schedule.

The Abacoa Golf Club Junior Senior will take place over two days at the Jupiter course. Points will be on the line in the 36-hbole team stroke play event. The first round will be a modified alternate shot while the second round will be four ball stroke play.

This is the next to last event for golfers to earn points and get in position to possibly win the Bankrate or Braman Cup before the Tour Championship is contested at the Fox Club in Palm City November 16th and 17th. The winner of the junior side will win 100 points while the winner on the senior side will walk away with 50 points.

While the 2014 PGA Tour season kicked off this weekend with its new wrap-around schedule at the Frys.com Open, hundreds of golfs around the country tried to get one step closer to playing on the Tour with the first stage of Qualifying School. After Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach hosted on the pre-qualifying events, Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach played as one of the first stage hosts.

Jupiter resident Dan Berger won medalist honors at the first stage and got one step closer to earning a web.com Tour card. Punching his ticket to the second stage, Berger shot a three day total of 14-under par and winning by two strokes over Palm Beach Gardens resident Sunny Kim. Harvest festivals are traditionally held on or near the Sunday of the Harvest Moon.  This full moon occurs closest to the autumn equinox (about September 23). In two years out of three, the Harvest moon comes in September, but in some years in occurs in October.   The word harvest is from the Old English word “haerfest”, meaning autumn.  It came to refer to the season for reaping and gathering grain and other grown products.

Florida Sportsman magazine will host its 21st annual Florida Sportsman Expo on October 12th through the 13th at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.

The event will inlcude fishing seminars, a 100-foot indoor cast pond, kids' cast pond, rigging tables, fly and net casting lessons, and much more. Tickets are $8 and children 12 and under are free with a parent or guardien. The Expo will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm on October 12th and 10am to 4pm on October 13th.
