Local philanthropists with big hearts and big sport fishing boats headed out to improve the quality of life of others by participating in the HMY Winner’s Circle Charity Invitational hosted by, Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame third baseman,  Mike Schmidt.  Entry fees, part of which are tax deductable ranged from $3,000 - $25,000, for honorary chair, for four anglers, and also received four tickets to the annual Rock-n-Reel Gala held at the Admiral’s Cove Country Club.  Several of local Jupiter area residents are participating in the fishing tournament. Summer is almost here and for those of you with kids, summer camp is a great solution to entertaining your children. The Winner's Circle

This week from May 17-19 is the Mike Schmidt & HMY Winner’s Circle Invitational. This is a fishing tournament held at the Bimini Bay Resort on the Island of Bimini in the Abaco Islands, Bahamas. Mike Schmidt, a hall of fame baseball player, founded this charity in 2000. He decided to combine his love for angling and passion to fight cystic fibrosis. The Winner’s Circle is now on its 13th year and has raised over $1.5 million to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This year the tournament has been expanded a little bit. Schmidt has included HMY Yachts as a co-host to the tournament as well as the Cleveland Clinic of Florida and the Marine Industry Education Foundation, which benefits the Riviera Beach Maritime Academy for the training of students for

The West Palm Beach Library

On May 2, the West Palm Beach Library Foundation hosted an unbelievably successful gala. The gala was held at the Mandel Public Library in West Palm Beach to honor Barbara and Morton Mandel. The Mandel Foundation recently donated $5 million to rear the library system and kick-start its new programs. 

The theme of the gala was “Imagine.” Teams of volunteers worked together to convert the library into a wonderland. The children’s area of the library was transformed into the dining room, where the tables were lined with pages from used books and donned handcrafted centerpieces. 150 guests enjoyed a three-course dinner catered by Sandy James Fine Foods, and the Wine Trade Inc. donated the wines for the evening.
