The River Center in Jupiter teams up several times a year with the United States Coast Guard for a Boating Safety Class. The safety class is aimed to promote safety on the water and when operating a boat. The class is aimed for children, teens and young adults but all are welcomed to attend.
The class is taught by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary “Flortilla 52” in a lecture style class. The State of Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation requires that any person wishing to operate a vessel of 10 horsepower or more and is born after January 1st, 1988 must complete and pass a boater safety course.
The class is free to attend but a $10 dollar deposit is required to hold your spot and will be refunded when the class is completed. The classes are sponsored by the AustinBlu Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and promoting educational programs to improve boater safety.
At the end of the class, those who attend are required to take and pass the Florida Boater Safety Exam to receive their Boater Safety Identification Card issued by the State of Florida.
