Veterans Day is a day celebrating and honoring anyone who has served in the United States military. The notable holiday’s origin began as a day to memorize the end of World War I and those who served in it. At the time the day was known as Armistice Day and it was then declared a holiday by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919. It did not become known as Veteran’s Day until 1954.

Ahoy, matey! Pirates and mermaids are taking over downtown Boynton Beach! On Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th, the 4th annual Boynton Beach Haunted Pirate Fest and Mermaid Splash will take place. East Ocean Avenue will turn into a pirate haven with entertainment and activities for all ages!

This two day event is free and takes place from 11am to 9pm on Saturday and 11am to 7pm on Sunday. Enjoy live music, comedians, pirate re-enactments, magic shows, stunt shows and more! Pull up a chair and get cozy for a night of spectacular proportions this Sunday! Across North America the night sky will show a “comic ballet” where you will be able to see a lunar eclipse. The moon will travel across the sky that will create a lunar eclipse unseen since 1982 and not to be seen again until 2033. 

A lunar eclipse like this one has only occurred five times since 1900. It has been named a “super moon.” It has been given the name super because of it is a moon in perigee- or the closest it will come to Earth in its orbit around the planet. On Friday morning off of Gateway Boulevard in Boynton Beach, Florida a red carpet was rolled out for the Dimensional Harmony Choir of Boynton Beach High School. 

The Lord Mayor of the London borough of Westminster, Catherine Longworth, traveled from London to Palm Beach County and personally invited the beautifully, talented choir of young students to perform in London for the Festival of the New Year. Along from London to invite the group of talented teens was the Executive Director of the London International Choral Festival, Robert Bone.

Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach will demolish their current clubhouse to make way for a new $22 million clubhouse. According to the club's General Manager William Langley, the 40 year old clubhouse will be torn down in the next few weeks and the new one is expected to be completed in October of 2017. 

Quail Ridge, which boasts two 18-hole championship courses, had it's original clubhouse built in 1975. It had been previously renovated in 1990 and again in 2001.

Langley said the current clubhouse is “traditional,” while the replacement will have more height, higher ceilings and views that overlook the putting green and practice range. It will have outdoor and indoor seating as well as an outdoor bar and nanowalls that allow the windows to…

As one of South Florida’s most natural thrills, it is always amazing to most that some 3,000 enormous sea turtles still lumber onto South Florida’s beaches at night to lay their eggs.  
Every summer, March through October, our pristine beaches are decorated with neon colored tape and signs to show where these ancient creatures have buried their nest.

Under the pale light the moon shines onto the beaches, turtle nesting season is such an awe-inspiring scene to watch. As the sea turtles wade their way up to the beach to dig holes in the sand and lay their eggs to then disappear back into the deep blue.
