In the month of May, the USGA will hold its annual US Open golf qualifiers all over the country. This year, Admirals Cove has been chosen to host the Palm Beach County area qualifying event on its East Course.

The qualifying tournament will be an 18-hole event and will take place on May 3rd and will feature some of the top amateur and local pro and semi-pro golfers that have not already qualified for the tournament. In order to be eligible to compete in a USGA US Open qualifier a golfer must either be a professional or have a handicap of 1.4 or lower.

Those players that are successful at the local qualifiers will advance to a sectional qualifying event. The sectional qualifiers will be a 36-hole event that will be held at 11 sites that are to be…

This Friday at 10:30am in Lake Park, the town is hosting a beautiful celebration for Arbor Day. Beginning in the morning locals from the community and students from different schools will come out to Flagler Boulevard to plant new trees. Tree City USA has donated the seedlings and students will graciously bring the soil to preserve the presence of our trees for future generations. The mayor, James Dubois, will commence the ceremony with some words about our trees and food and drinks will be available to all that want to partake. People from Stuart to Palm Beach Gardens will come out to plant new trees.

Celebrate EARTH WEEK with the Town of Jupiter at ECOFEST on Saturday, April 27, from 11:00am – 4:00pm at Riverwalk Events Plaza (under the Indiantown Road Bridge). Going into this past weekend, Team USA was undefeated when a Fed Cup Qualifier was held in the state of Florida, including 2-0 in Delray Beach. After this weekend, the perfect record stayed intact.  

tennis_300The United States defeated Sweden 3-2 at the Delray Beach Tennis Center to earn a spot in the 2014 Fed Cup World Group. Palm Beach Gardens residents Venus and Serena William lead the way with two of the three wins for the U.S. side.

Serena, the world’s number one player, defeated Sofia Arvidsson 6-2 and 6-1 on Sunday, giving the American side a 2-1 lead. That win set up the opportunity for Venus to clinch the victory for Team USA. Venus defeated Johanna Larsson 6-3 and 7-5 to take a 3-1 lead and ultimately advance Team USA to the Fed Cup World Group.

Lifeguard Tower

The famous Peanut Island is getting a new addition to its shores! For all of the fun-goers that come to Peanut Island, you can breathe a little easier when it comes to swimming around the island. A brand new lifeguard station will be opening on the island later this month. 

Peanut Island’s five, fulltime lifeguards that serve and protect and now they will have new $100,000, hurricane proof headquarters. The new, 12-foot by 12-foot, cinder block building is going to be a hefty step up from the trailer they were calling home for the past decade. The new building will provide the lifeguards with more than 80 square feet of additional space. There will be enough room for a swimmer or person with heat exhaustion to come inside for treatment.

Turtle Trot 5K 2013

The Town of Jupiter is bringing back its beloved, annual Turtle Trot. This is the 23rd annual Turtle Trot 5K and it sure to set the bar high!

Runners from all over the area come out to run from Carlin Park down the beach road (A1A) to the Jupiter Inlet and back. Thereare 15 age groups for the race and the top 3 male and top 3 female runners from each group will take home awards. Some of the new things to look forward to this year in the race include group registration and the kid’s fun run! The group registration allows for 3 or more runners to run together as a team, the team with the most participants will win an award. For the kids, the fun run is a mile long run that is not timed. It is perfect for kids 11 and under!

Waterfront Properties and Club Communities own Abraham Kamor won the member-guest Tennis Championship at Admirals Cove. Competing with his partner Matt Weague, the two won the championship this past weekend. The tournament consisted of 20 teams of Admirals Cove Tennis Club members and their guests.

There were three flights with the winners of each flight advancing to the semi-finals. Abraham and his partner Matt won their flight before winning their semi-final and championship matches.
