Five Golfers Advance From Local U.S. Open Qualifier

On Friday, some of the top local golfers converged upon the East Course at Admirals Cove to try and begin the qualifying process for next month's U.S. Open.
Open to amateurs and professionals with a 1.4 handicap or lower, 84 golfers from around the state and around the world entered the qualifying event. Out of those 84 golfers, five golfers advanced out of the local qualifier and will move on to sectional qualifying the first week of June.
Tequesta resident Gabriel Costa won the event with a 4-under 68. Richard Terga of Palm Beach Gardens, Ryan Yip of Canada, Zachary Oakley of Palm City and Christian Westhorpe all qualified for the sectional qualifying event as well.
