On Friday, some of the top local golfers converged upon the East Course at Admirals Cove to try and begin the qualifying process for next month's U.S. Open.

Open to amateurs and professionals with a 1.4 handicap or lower, 84 golfers from around the state and around the world entered the qualifying event. Out of those 84 golfers, five golfers advanced out of the local qualifier and will move on to sectional qualifying the first week of June.

For the 12th consecutive year, hall of fame third baseman Mike Schmidt will be holding his annual fishing tournament at Old Bahama Bay to benefit cystic fibrosis.

wcc_nu_logo_927_01Since the inception of the event, the Winners Circle Charities have raised more than $1.5 million toward cystic fibrosis research. For the second straight year, Steve Moynihan and HMY Yachts has partnered with Schmidt for the fishing tournament.

World Autism Awareness DayEvery year on April 2nd hundreds of organizations from around the world take part in World Autism Awareness Day. Land marks from Jupiter's lighthouse to Paris's Eiffel Tower will light up blue in honor of those with autisum. It is a day of celebration and merriment for families and foundations all over the globe. Unique fundraising and awareness raising events take place during this time. 

One in 88 American children have a form of autism. This rate is higher than those diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and cancer combined, according to a study by the United Nations (UN). GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO DO A GOOD DEED!  It is time for the monthly beach clean-up…Please join Lynne Wells and her group of Blue Friends Society on Saturday, March 16th, 2013 at 8:00am – 9:00am at the back gate of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.  This is a perfect opportunity to keep our beautiful Juno beaches and ocean environments clean.  The clean-up lasts one hour and it is open to everyone who is interested.  Following the one hour clean up, volunteers are invited to join for a light refreshments sponsored by Whole Foods Market in Palm Beach Gardens. Admirals Cove 2013 Club Championship

The best golfers in the community gathered last weekend and braved the uncharacteristically chilly temperatures all in a quest for the coveted title of Admirals Cove Club Champion!   Spectators and participants wondered how the frigid air would effect the performances.  No need to worry, some local Jupiter residents and veteran snowbirds accustomed to the temperatures played through, and as the day warmed, phenomenal golf played with lots of great shots from all.
