Seattle based Zillow, an online real estate database known and respected in the industry for its housing precisions, has released its 2014 list of TOP 10 Hottest Home Markets For 2014.  Our area is right in middle of the list!

The Seattle based group report; released on December 5, 2013, has South Florida in Fifth Place!   Zillow reports, “The list is intended to give an early view into the housing markets that are likely to experience a heavy demand for homes, as well as increasing home values."

Four bold housing predictions by Zillow for 2014 include:

  1.  U.S. Home values will increase by 3 percent.
  2. Mortgage rates will reach 5 percent by the end of the year.
  3. It will be easier for borrowers to get a mortgage in 2014.

That's because Seminole Golf Club and the USGA have agreed to hold the 2021 edition of the Walker Cup, the amateur version of the famed Ryder Cup. The bi-annual competiton will mark the first time since Seminole opened up in 1929 that the famous course will hold an event that is open to the public.

The decision was made after Jimmy Dunne, the president of Seminole and native New Yorker, saw how well this year's Walker Cup went when it was held at National Golf Links in New York.

The All Aboard Florida passenger rail project will be a cost effective and environmentally friendly way to travel between South Florida and Orlando, with potential to expand to Tampa and Jacksonville.  Trains will operate at speeds up to 125 miles per hour, meeting the United States Department of Transportation definition of “high speed rail” and thusly reducing travel time between Orlando and Miami and other connections offered.  Trains will offer a full range of first-class amenities including Wi-Fi internet service, gourmet meal service, beverage service, reserved business class seating and coach service seating, luggage and bicycle accommodations.

A violin, believed to have been played on the Titanic as it sank, was auctioned for more $1.6 million this past weekend.  The sea-corroded instrument is believed to have been belonged to bandmaster Wallace Hartley.  He was one of the disasters 1,500 victims.
 
As seen in the blockbuster film, “Titantic”, the band continued playing “Nearer, My God, to Thee” as passengers panic and the ship sinks into the icy waters.  The violin, with the inscription “For WALLACE on the occasion of our ENGAGEMENT from MARIA”, was believed to be strapped to the musician’s body in a leather case.  

The violin was returned to Hartley’s fiancée, Maria Robinson, in England in 1939.  After her death, it was donated to the Salvation Army Band and later passed on, eventually settling…

Many locals have been asking the question “why do we need a parking garage in charming Jupiter Inlet Village?”  The answer comes from Jupiter’s Town Council.  Several years ago, the Town Council put into place planning policies that would support a development pattern for our funky fishing village.  The idea was to fill the quaint area with limited height buildings, no taller than 3.5 stories. Additionally, the idea was to maintain the smaller, narrower streets with on street parking with different architectural designs for a variety of businesses and residential units keeping the “funky feel”.
