The Town of Jupiter and the Village of Tequesta are nestled between Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart. Both areas cater to the outdoor style, as they wrap around the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway, which provide incomparable views to residents. For this reason, water sports and boating are abundant. Jupiter and Tequesta also offer their share of championship golf courses and pristine beaches frequented often under consistently sunny skies.

turtle nesting light ordinance

Photo: 2014 Sea Turtle Nesting Count

Sea turtle nesting season has legitimately taken place on March 1st and along South Florida’s coastline, locals have already stumbled upon several sea turtles sightings on the naturally pure beaches. “In the dark and out of sight is where South Florida’s sea turtle population literally comes to life.” Seasonal lighting regulations have taken into effect which entails waterfront residents and nearby businesses that are close to the Atlantic Ocean to faint lights in order to help prevent female turtles from being scared off and aborting the natural nesting process.

Daniel Berger is no stranger to PGA National. The 21 year old PGA Tour rookie grew up in nearby Jupiter, played and worked out of the Dye Preserve, and went to high school at Dwyer.

At this point he has probably played there more than most of the pros that were in the field this week. But, when he made his run in the fourth round, erasing a nine shot deficit when the final round started Sunday, all everyone could do is just stop and watch.

Berger took on all the top guns ahead of him on the leaderboard and beat them. In fact, he beat everyone in the field except for one (champion Padraig Harrington), and he took Harrington to the second playoff hole before succumbing to a bad tee shot.

Berger shot a final round 64 over Sunday and Monday, the…

South Florida’s moderate climate does not offer much disparity from the seasons compared to many areas of the country that are in snow and freezing temperatures right now. When Floridians talk about the change of season they are more likely focused on hurricane season, love bugs and manatee or sea turtles seasons. Don’t get us wrong, South Florida does get a few brisk mornings with chilly breezes, but we don’t have to shovel snow, we don’t have to “winterize” our boats and we are able to fish all year round, if you catch my drift!

Snowbirds flock to South Florida for the winter months and fish still enjoy the mild waters and have the need to feed as the changing conditions occur, but even in the coolest…

Cloudy with occasional rain showers is the weather predictions for this weekend, and today winds are NW with gusts of 13 mph and as high as 18 mph according to NOAA. Strong winds are in the forecast for the weekend!

Alongside the sailfish, cobia are here in South Florida and moving closer to the beaches as the cold weather seems to move them in. Spot a turtle and you may see a nice size cobia swimming along with it. Within Palm beach County, you may find them on the wrecks in 15-120’ feet of water. Be prepared…
