How would you react to winning a Mega Millions jackpot?  The gentleman who won the $120 million had been playing the same numbers since June of 2005.  The numbers consisted of birthdays and anniversaries, which he bought at a local 7-Eleven. When he checked his iPad and confirmed the winning numbers to his ticket and they all matched he stated “I just sat back and let it all soak in”  very calmly.

What would you do if you suddenly found a large sum of cash in your bank account?  Would you pay off your mortgage, take a trip around the world…the choices seem endless don’t they?  Most of the lucky lottery winners seem to choose to pay off their home immediately and then distribute the wealth into other areas.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness and raise funds for research, prevention, diagnosis, and most importantly, a cure!   It is an excellent opportunity to remind everyone about early detection. 

In 1983, the first Race for the Cure was held in Dallas, Texas with 800 participants in attendance.  By 2012, tens of thousands of people participate in events to raise funds and awareness, in locations internationally, in hopes and remembrance of loved ones who have battled breast cancer. Rob Thomson Winner of the 2012 Billionaire's Club Award

At the recent conference, held in Scottsdale, Arizona, a network of the most prominent global luxury brokers met to discuss current real estate trends and other topics pertaining to serving their high net worth demographic clientele.  A highlight of the 17th Annual Luxury Real Estate Fall Conference was the Awards Presentation.

The classy and clever women of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities will board Waterfront I on Oct. 6 to help raise money for two Palm Beach County cancer charities.

Eleven anglers from the Jupiter-based real-estate and brokerage firm will participate in the fourth-annual kingfish, dolphin and wahoo challenge benefiting Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope and Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper.

The fun and festive tournament at Castaways Marina gets under way Oct. 5 and features a mix of fishing, boat decorating, cocktail concocting and costume contests, as well as an awards party to raise money for local breast- and ovarian-cancer patients who are in financial need. Since 2009, “Bluewater Babes Fish for Cure” has raised more than $100,000.

The latest GardensArt exhibit at Palm Beach Gardens City Hall is titled “Floral & Marine Life” and depicts tropical plants and underwater creatures.

The artist, Nancy Tilles, is an award-winning oil painter who has lived in South Florida for more than 30 years. Originally from New York – as most owners of South Florida real estate are – she now lives in Palm Beach Gardens.

GardensArt is an art-in-public-places program sponsored by the city and an asset to those who own homes in Palm Beach Gardens. The program presents the work of local artists year round in the building’s lobby. All exhibits and receptions are free and open to the public.

The 2010 Tax Relief Act extends through December 31, 2012 and the extended “Bush” tax rate cut revert to previous levels in 2013.  President Obama recently proposed additional tax changes for 2013.  

The 2010 Tax Relief Act also maintained “the reduced maximum capital gains rate of 15% on adjusted net capital gain on noncorporate taxpayers (for regular tax and AMT purposes) and 0%  capital gains rate on adjusted  net capital gain of noncorporate taxpayers in the 10% or 15% income tax bracket.”  The favorable taxation of qualified dividends received by individuals, trusts or estates at capital gain rates was also extended through 2012. 

Without any further legislation, the individual income tax rates will revert to 15, 25, 28, 36 and 39.6 percent. …
