Florida Atlantic University, Department of Visual Arts and Art History will present the 2016 Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition “Space”, April 15 through May 6.  The exhibition will be located at Ritter Gallery, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. 

“Space” is the “thesis exhibition for emerging artists and designers working in various media including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, digital media and photography.  Themes presented in the exhibition will span social and cultural critiques and conceptual investigations of form and material.”

Baseball is widely known as America’s favorite pastime and it has hit Palm Beach County out of the ballpark.  The baseball enthusiasm began in New York metropolitan area in the mid-1850.  There were 16 area clubs registered with the first governing body of baseball, the National Association of Base Ball Players. Palm Beach County’s first tourists were the early settlers. The area was known as “Lake Worth”, named for Major General William Jenkins Worth.  General Worth fought in the Second Seminole War.

The first permanent residents of Palm Beach County arrived in 1872. They struggled to clear the land for building homes and growing crops.

A ship the “Providencia”, traveling from Havana, Cuba to Barcelona, Spain, transporting a load of coconuts was shipwrecked ashore Lake Worth’s coastline.  The early settlers salvaged the coconuts.  Coconut Palms were not indigenous to South Florida.  The first residents wasted no time in planting the coconuts in an effort to introduce a profitable coconut industry.  Palm…
