On the first and third Friday of each month, The French Wine Merchant in Palm Beach hosts tastings on their tropical patio from 6-8 p.m.

Owner Maurice Amiel, who has 40 years in the business, hand-selects whites, roses, and reds to for patrons to enjoy along with gourmet French cheeses and breads. The cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple and attendees can take bottles home for 30% off the night of. 

Amiel's technique is to find the best small vineyards in the world's best wine regions including France, Spain and Italy. He also buys direct from New Zealand, Australia, Chile and Argentina.

If you’re ready to spice things up New Orleans style, you’re in luck. The same husband-and-wife team that brought us Calaveras Cantina in Jupiter is planning to open “Voodoo Bayou,” a southern Cajun restaurant, in Palm Beach Gardens.

“Our team has been watching the steady rise of New Orleans being a world class culinary destination,” Curtis Peery, a South Florida native who serves as president for both restaurants, said via a publicist Monday. 

The menu will feature house-made biscuits, Southern-style charcuterie, Cajun seafood boils, shrimp and crawfish fondue, fried green tomato BLTs, fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, rabbit and dumplings, and wood-fire oysters, redfish, and gator tail.

So many holidays, so little time. Americans love their fast food and here’s a new national holiday I wasn’t familiar with, National Chicken Tender Day! The celebration begins today, Friday, July 27, 2018. How did this happen after all, chickens don’t actually have fingers, do they?

Chicken tenders/fingers aren't all that complex. Take a chicken breast, bread it, fry it, and there you have it. Chicken tenders have been a staple of fast food restaurants and kids' menus far and wide. The Puritan Backroom in Manchester, N.H., claims to have invented the tenders back in 1974. This week in Palm Beach County we’ve had some fishing reports of wahoo in the bite in the 150’-350’ range offshore Palm Beach, Juno Beach, and Jupiter. It’s a scorcher out there at a forecasted high of 90 degrees throughout the weekend with some hot spots feeling as high as 100 degrees, so don’t forget to pack plenty of water, ice, sunscreen, and I hope you have a T-top for a little shade. The Thursday night tradition in downtown West Palm Beach is the reoccurring, Clematis By Night. Clematis By Night has been a free weekly outdoor concert series that has been running for the last 22 years.
