This Sunday, May 5th is Cinco De Mayo and many local restaurants in Palm Beach County are hosting special dining deals and drink specials in honor of the day.
Many confused Cinco De Mayo as Mexico’s Independence Day but, Cinco De Mayo is actually the day that Mexico defeated France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Mexico’s Independence Day is actually September 16th.
Cinco de Mayo became popular in the United States in the late 1980’s when Mexican imported beers such as Modelo and Corona created an ad campaign that eventually took over the print and tv ads.
In Palm Beach County there are several authentic Mexican restaurants that will be hosting special dinner and drink specials, live music, special events and contests and much more throughout the day.
