A rare North Atlantic right mother whale and calf appeared this week in the Sebastian Inlet and meandered into the mouth of the Indian River Lagoon.

The North Atlantic right whale is one of the most endangered species of large whales.  According to the World Wildlife Federation, there are approximately 500 whales and very little population growth even though seven decades of protection have been in place.  The whale is usually found along the Atlantic Coastline, primarily the United States and Canada.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have been following the particular North Atlantic right whale for four years now.  They have named her “Clipper” for she has a missing section of her fluke. These whales migrate every year in…

“Probably no other location on the East Coast of the United States enjoys the international reputation for guiding ships throughout the centuries as does the area now known as Jupiter, Florida.”

Back in the earlier days, the Hobe Indian tribe used to lodge and settle near the Loxahatchee River in Florida. The tribe was very uniquely skilled hunters who based their meals on seafood and all things meat and were incredible craftsman, making useful bare necessities.

Later in time, the area was going to be included in the new world map and the name of the town was misspelled from “Hobe” to “Jove”, later with modifications being named, “Jupiter.” Jupiter is the Latin translation of God.

Some of the Jupiter beaches north of Marcinski will be shut down for a ten-day period to make way for a ton of sand! Literally, 13,000 tons of sand is being trucked down from Saint Lucie County to be dispersed among the ¼ mile stretch of beach closest to A1A from north of the Reef Club to just south of Carlin Park.

The work will take place during daylight hours from 7am to 5pm. While the beaches and beach accesses will be closed for this ten-day restoration period, the sidewalks will be open.

The beach restoration will help repair the natural damage done to the dunes by storms from the past few years. Native plants will be added to help keep the dunes in place. These dunes are an incredibly important, natural feature that protects A1A and the walkovers…

The hamburger has been around since the 19th century.  The mouthwatering creation has evolved since its creation and has become known as an iconic American food.   It originated as a hamburger sandwich consisting of ground steak placed between two slices of bread.  It was a brave step in the culinary world since the two ingredients, steak and bread, had been served alongside one another for hundreds of years.

Historians have varied opinions on who is credited with beef and bread roll sandwich. Did you realize that Super Bowl Sunday is the second largest food consumption day for Americans?  The biggest day for Americans to overindulge is Thanksgiving!  Chicken wings and pizza are favorites, closely followed by potato chips/pretzels. The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority explained that the public installation of “The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Cooperation” will be the first stop on the East Coast installations tour of the United States.  The public swing installation is located on the 500 block of Clematis Street (between Quadrille Boulevard and Rosemary Avenue), West Palm Beach.   It is “an interactive display, which essentially acts as a giant musical instrument.”

The concept was created by the French Canadian design group Daily tous les jours. Originally referred to as “21 Swings” in Montreal, Canada.  The public installation in Montreal averaged 8,500 times per day in four years.

Prepare to be blown away! Come out today, February 6 to the Jupiter Community Center to see an amazing display of award winning artists create their works of art in chalk onto the street. You will see amazing 3D street paintings and chalk art all over the street at the Jupiter Jubilee at the Jupiter Community Center.
