Something incredibly wild will be coming to Jupiter, Florida!

The largest environmental film festival of its time will be making its introduction, The Wild & Scenic Film Festival on April 10 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum (JILM).

The films of the prevailing and powerful short motion pictures will be presented to rise environmental support by the visual challenges that our planet has to face as well as the effort the communities are doing to safeguard the stunning places we love to live on. With over 140 ecological groups, nature centers, museums and academic universities, are all pleased and delighted to partner up with the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum.

Wildlife Officials say to Look out for shorebirds in South Florida

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are asking all beachgoers to keep a look out and do your best not to disturb the shorebirds on the Atlantic coast of Florida.

During spring and summer, shorebirds are beach nesting; they tend to build nests with layers of sand and sea shells found on the beautiful resourceful beaches of South Florida. Due to their camouflage, hatching chicks, as well as the nest and eggs, are challenging to see with possibilities of being trodden on such as birds like the black skimmer, snowy plover and American oystercatcher and more. One more shot at the South Florida “winter” is projected to swift through the weekend. A cool front will be pushing in while bringing in breezy conditions. These are ideal conditions for our beauitful Sailfish, for those willing to take on the rougher conditions.

Sailfish could be traveling around the Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet within 100-300 feet of water. Dolphin should be cruising around the same depths as the sails and in really nice sizes too. The State of Florida Senate Finance and Tax Committee is in support of reducing commercial real estate lease tax.  The bill (SB 140) recommends reducing the current 6% tax on commercial real estate leases to 5%.  This reduction makes Florida even more attractive, in addition to the perfect weather and beautiful beaches, for homeowners and business owners.

Under the bill, the cut would take effect January 1, 2016.  Reduction in the state tax commercial real estate lease percentage will allow Florida to compete for businesses to move to the state.
