Wildlife Officials say to Look out for shorebirds in South Florida

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are asking all beachgoers to keep a look out and do your best not to disturb the shorebirds on the Atlantic coast of Florida.

During spring and summer, shorebirds are beach nesting; they tend to build nests with layers of sand and sea shells found on the beautiful resourceful beaches of South Florida. Due to their camouflage, hatching chicks, as well as the nest and eggs, are challenging to see with possibilities of being trodden on such as birds like the black skimmer, snowy plover and American oystercatcher and more. Happy 53rd birthday, Delray Affair!

Delray Beach, Florida will rejoice in its 53rd year of the Delray Affair, locally nicknamed “Greatest Show under the Sun,” is the largest arts and crafts festival in the Southeast.

Dustin Johnson has had a good go of things lately.

He sold his house on the Loxahatchee River and boght a new waterfront house on the Intracoastal in the new Frenchman's Harbour community in North Palm Beach. He and his fiance Paulina welcomed their first child back in January, a son named Tatum. Johnson also went out and won the WGC-Cadillac Championsip at Doral, the second stop in the Florida swing. He then came back this weekend and managed a T6 finish at the Valero Texas Open despite having back luck with weather the first two days being in the early-late draw at TPC San Antonio.

You can also add setting a new course record to his acolades as of late.

One more shot at the South Florida “winter” is projected to swift through the weekend. A cool front will be pushing in while bringing in breezy conditions. These are ideal conditions for our beauitful Sailfish, for those willing to take on the rougher conditions.

Sailfish could be traveling around the Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet within 100-300 feet of water. Dolphin should be cruising around the same depths as the sails and in really nice sizes too. On Saturday, March 28th, the Loxahatchee River will go back into time passing through the River Center in Jupiter, Florida. An annual event, “River Rhapsody” will be fundamentally aiding the outstanding environmental education that it offers to all ages throughout the year.

“River Rhapsody” hosted by Chief Meteorologist on the Storm Team 5, Steve Weagle, creates this educational event inside a turn of the century river boat.
