The Loxahatchee River District’s River Center is enthusiastic so far about the 2nd Annual Jr. Angler Fishing Tournament that has been going on since June and will be continuing until July 11th.

There are lots of young anglers that are submitting their fun fishing photos to the contest that is proven to be one of the River Center’s most popular events! This is a completely friendly competition for anyone between the ages of 5 and 17 and young anglers can participate at any time but points do matter! Anglers will be accumulating points in this catch and release tournament as they photograph with their catch and submit their catch logs.. History enthusiasts and carpenters are assembling the concluding touches to the former Henry Flagler Train Depot as they preparing to open on August 1, 2015 at Sawfish Bay Park in Jupiter, Florida.

The train depot has been re-built out of pine from North Florida, along with diamond shaped shingles and hardware that is very closely related to what was used a century ago. “The work has included gutting the interior, installing a new roof, painting, repairing fire damage, adding a deck and other repairs on the structure that was built in 1915. There was lots of fire damage,” said retired Lantana architect Don Edge, who is among many individuals and companies that donated time and material for the reconstruction of the one-room structure.”

May is here and bringing in the heat along with warmer water temperatures!

Offshore- The big bite happening offshore this week in South Florida is definitely kingfish, averaging in at 30-50 pounds. In the range of 100-200 ft. of water, the best bait to use if you are trying to target these silver kings are live goggle eyes or sardines. However, if you prefer trolling the offshore waters, break out your downriggers and run a split tail mullet or artificial ribbonfish to attract the fish’s attention.
Dolphin and Wahoo are in a little deeper of 200-350 ft. of water and anglers may have to work a little harder to find these fish at these depths and some reports say dolphin are in much deeper as 800-1200 ft.  Mix up your bait spread a bit with natural and…

The 13th Annual Great Loxahatchee River Race is Saturday, May 16, 2015 which will be hosted by Waste Water Management, Inc. and Florida Paddling Trails Association. Many that live in Jupiter, Florida are acquainted with the story of Henry Flagler’s railroad which converted to the Florida East Coast Railroad. The train depot served the public well for many years since the year of 1915!

The 22-by-53 foot historic train depot is now situated at Sawfish Bay Park in Jupiter with very close proximity to its original location and was famous for a stopping point throughout the early days of Flagler’s railroad. The proposal is to turn the 1915 Henry Flagler train depot into a museum and to be rented by civic groups, all this was endorsed on Tuesday by the Town Council.
