Maltz Jupiter Theatre Expanding
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is set to embark in the next phase of its expansion, five years after the last expansion. The doors closed after its last sold out production of “West Side Story” on April 15th.
The expansion is set to be completed in three different sections. The first section will include improvements to the parking lot by adding 30 to 40 more parking spaces, landscaping, additional curb cutouts and bringing more power to the building for the second phase of the expansion.
The theater will remain open and fully operational during the construction for upcoming limited engagements and summer productions. Construction for phase 1 is expected to be completed before the first production of the 2019/2020 season in the fall.
The first phase of construction will allow much of the project to get done before beginning the second and third phase and will allow time for permitting, drawings and finalizing the budget.
The expansion is a project that will be completed in three phases over the next couple of summers that will improve the production facilities. With the current plan in place the theater stage will see a 10 foot wider and 10-foot deeper expansion on either side making the theater to qualify for national tours and Pre-Broadway shows. The construction will include a third-floor rehearsal studio, two new marquees, a proposed 199 seat second theater space, a VIP Lounge, the theater’s Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts will double in size and much more.
For more than a decade the non-profit theater has been a cultural hub for Palm Beach County and Jupiter and now the theater is ready for growth and more entertainment and cultural programs. To donate and to learn more about the expansion, visit their website.
