This Friday, head to the Jupiter Lighthouse to explore and learn about the history and nature of the lighthouse and the Outstanding Natural Area onsite.

The Jupiter Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (JILONA) Act was introduced into the US Senate designating the lighthouse and the 120 surrounding acres of Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) into the Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management National Landscape Conservation System. The site located in Jupiter is the first Outstanding Natural Area in the Nation east of the Pacific Coast. The other two sites are located in Yaquina Head in Oregon, and Piedras Blancas Lighthouse in California. The Act was signed in 2008 by President Bush, protecting this site and giving it Natural Public Land Status.

The Jupiter Lighthouse and Museum is celebrating this day on Friday with a day filled with special events for the whole family. The day will include Self-Guided Tours of the area, exploring the nature trails, a chance to climb to the top of the Jupiter Lighthouse, and much more.
