For the past several years, Martin County officials have been trying to improve the main corridor of Palm City. Now, the project is finally moving forward and hopes to help small businesses.

Palm City is looking to complete a new streetscape project that has been in the making for the past 15 years. The new streetscape hopes to beautify the area and many local businesses are excited about the change.

Construction cones have already been spotted along the Mapp Road for the Town Center Project. Construction started in May and the project hopes to transform the street to create a downtown feel that attracts more businesses and brings more people to the area.

The project will stretch down both sides of Mapp Road from Martin Downs Boulevard to Martin Highway. The project will add decorative streetlights, benches, trash and recycle cans, beautiful landscaping, 140 parking spaces, new sidewalks, new crosswalks, and new drainage in areas prone to flooding.

The new project is estimated to cost $5.6 million dollars and is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2021.
