Sea Turtle Awareness Class
The Jupiter Dive Center and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center have partnered together for a Sea Turtle Awareness Class as part of their ProjectAWARE bringing awareness to Marinelife. The class is this Saturday, May 11th from 10 am to 5 pm.
The Sea Turtle Awareness specialty course introduces scuba divers to the basic sea turtle identification and conservation. In the class you’ll learn about the preservation of the aquatic environment and about the sea turtle species common in our ocean. The class will also teach you about the skills and knowledge needed to record sightings, identify the sea turtles, the importance of sea turtles and other Marinelife, and the decline in sea turtle populations.
Those who wish to attend must be a certified Open Water diver and this course will earn you a certification card and credit towards the Master Scuba Diver accreditation.
The cost to attend the class is $279 dollars and includes two aluminum 80 air tanks, boat charter, boxed lunch, weights, snacks, drinks, materials, and your PADI Specialty certification card. Rental gear is not included in the class cost.
The class will start with the ProjectAWARE Sea Turtle Awareness Presentation at 10 am followed by a two-tank dive trip starting at 1:30 pm.
