The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is preparing to release another healthy sea turtle named Valentina back into the ocean tomorrow afternoon.

Valentina is a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle that was found in the St. Lucie Power Plant intake canal in Jenson Beach on February 14th, 2019. When the sea turtle arrived at the center, the turtle’s blood work showed hypoglycemia and anemia, Valentina was also under weight, lethargic and in poor health. Valentina was also missing its left front flipper. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center monitored the turtle with routine blood work, nutrition, iron, and antibiotics.

Tomorrow, May 7th, Valentina will be released back into the ocean at 2 pm with pre-release procedures beginning at 1:30 pm. The release will take place on the beach across the street from the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.

The cost to attend is free, however they do recommend arriving early to get a good viewing spot. The sea turtle releases are weather permitting so be sure to check their website for more information. If you cannot attend, there will be a Facebook Live video on their Facebook Page.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is located at 14200 US Highway 1 in Juno Beach.
