The River Center at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, 16450 S.E. Federal Highway, Hobe Sound will host a “Sunset Paddle and Naturalist Tour” this Friday, August 30, at 6pm.

Get away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind and take a step back from it all with a sunset kayak tour of the nationally recognized “wild and scenic river” located in Jupiter.  Just imagine paddling your own kayak down the Loxahatchee River, past egrets and heron, turtles and deer.  It sounds relaxing and exhilarating!  The 8.5-mile waterway is a nature lover’s paradise.

POSITIVE ECONOMIC OUTLOOK GREAT FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND

This year’s Labor Day weekend is predicted to see more Americans hit the road than in the past five years.  IHS Global Insight and AAA Travel cite the country’s improved employment situation and recovering home values for the upswing in the economy and the spike in travel plans.  Their reports predict that 34.1 million people will travel 50 miles or more within the country this Labor Day weekend. Beaches and barbeques are the conjecture for most.

“AAA is forecasting a lift in Labor Day travel this year due to the increasingly positive economic outlook and optimism in the housing market,” said AAA President and CEO Robert L. JUPITER JAZZ SOCIETY

Over a year ago, the Jupiter Jazz Society was a community of jazz musicians and fans who gathered to enjoy and make connections; it has grown to a 400 member Society.  It is now a 501© (3) nonprofit of individuals also intent on preserving “live improvised music in Jupiter, to generate more interest in jazz, and to perform in future community events.”

Longtime Jupiter residents, Cherie and Rick Moore, are co-founders of the Jupiter Jazz Society.   Rick has played jazz piano professionally for more than 40 years.  The Moore’s founded the jazz society in hopes of making Jupiter a cultural capital for jazz. A recently released study entitled “How Money Walks” by Travis H. Brown, investigates how people are relocating from high-tax states with heavy regulation to lower-tax states with less regulation.  Discovering in fact, more wealth migrated to the Sunshine State in the last two decades than any other state in the nation.  According to the research done by Mr. Brown, the statistics amount to a staggering $95.6 billion dollars; considerably more than the No. 2 state of Arizona, at $28 billion dollars, amounting to three times as much.

INTERNATIONAL TENNIS COMING TO OUR AREA

A two-week tennis tournament planned for next spring will bring players from across the globe is coming to Palm Beach County. Four of the eight tennis clubs are located in Palm Beach Gardens.

The cities of Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton will host the 2014 International Tennis Federation Seniors World Championships and the Seniors World Team Championships from April 21-26, 2014.  The 2014 International Tennis Federation Seniors Individual Championships will take place the following week from April 27-May 4, 2014.

The event will be played at different tennis clubs across the Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton area played on Har-Tru clay.  Participants from 38 countries will be competing for the world championship title in doubles, individual, and mixed…

HAPPY SHE’S LEAVING…LARGEST INJURED SEA TURTLE FINALLY GOING HOME…

A 352-pound female loggerhead sea turtle, who rehabilitated at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, returned to her rightful home this week.  Biologists from Inland Research Group discovered “Big Mama” in the St. Lucie Power Plant Intake Canal with an injury to her shell.  They contacted the staff at renowned marine life center for help.

Charles Manire, staff veterinarian and Director of Research & Rehabilitation is quoted as saying, “we are not sure where the wound originated, but it extends all the way down her coelomic cavity, which is close to her lung.”

PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT VICTORY

A marketing survey released last year showed 45 percent of respondents would use PBIA most of the time if it had more direct flights, specifically to California and New York. The survey of the airports coverage area was done to identify “ways to stem the tide of passengers shifting to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando International airports.”  

The victory for PBIA, according to airport officials, was when American Airlines announced last Friday that it would add a nonstop flight to LAX.

Roger Dean Stadium at 4751 Main Street, Jupiter will host a “Baseball & Brews” event on Saturday, August 3, 2013, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Partakers, 21 and older, will have the opportunity to sample more than 50 regional and national micro brews, along with a minor league game between the Jupiter Hammerheads vs. Lakeland Flying Tigers.

OCEAN VIEW FOR MALTZ JUPITER THEATER

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is celebrated its 10th anniversary by breaking ground on a new expansion.  It is currently the largest award winning theater in Florida, attracting over 70,000 annual visitors.

Renovations are well under way at Maltz Jupiter Theater.  An estimated $2.5 million will be spent on the theaters new facelift.  A concierge will greet you in the expansive lobby and luxurious seats will wrap around you at show time.  There will be less time waiting in line and higher level of theater performances.

The renovation started in April and will be complete for the October opening of “Your Ticket to Great Entertainment.”  A $1.5 million, generous donation, provided funding for the theater from a founding…

Buckingham Palace welcomed a new addition with the birth of George Alexander Louis, Prince of Cambridge.  The third in line to the British throne will never have to worry about the current real estate market.  

Baby George will live in the preeminent house in London.  Buckingham Palace is the official London residence and principal residence of the British monarch.  In the beginning, the original large townhome was built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1705.  Subsequently, three wings were added and during the 19th century and the townhouse was enlarged. The renovation was then intended as a private retreat for Queen Charlotte, known as “The Queens House” - 14 of 15 of their children were born there.
