Two local Zoo’s and Safari’s in Palm Beach County are currently closed to the public due to COVID-19 but are active on their websites and social media pages by posting pictures and videos of the animals for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own home.  

The Lion Country Safari, located in western Palm Beach County is known as Florida’s largest walk through and drive through Safari and has won numerous awards and recognitions for being one of Palm Beach County’s Top Attractions.  The safari is home to over 900 animals that roam freely among the 600 plus acres and is said to be the first cage-less zoo in the United States. Lion Country Safari is one of Palm Beach County’s most popular attraction for both locals and visitors. The safari is the only drive through and walk through safari in the entire State of Florida. Located in Western Palm Beach County, the safari is home to more than 600 acres and was founded in 1967.

The Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach is a fun and interesting place for those who live in South Florida to visit, especially now that it’s starting to get a little cooler outside. Beginning on Saturday, May 11th you can purchase an Unlimited Summer Pass to 4 of South Florida’s most popular attractions.

The pass is $60 dollars for adults and $50 dollars for children and includes unlimited access to the Zoo Miami, Museum of Discovery and Science, Miami Seaquariam and the Lion Country Safari.

The pass goes on sale on May 11th and the pass is valid all summer long until September 30th. The passes can be purchased on any of the four venue websites or at each of the venues.

This Saturday, March 23rd, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center will host its 16th Annual TurtleFest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is a great event for Palm Beach residents of all ages, especially those interested in local wildlife and marine ecosystems.

Over 10,000 guests will join together at TurtleFest 2019 at the free-admission event which focuses on promoting conservation and endangered sea turtles. Guests will enjoy music, art, shopping, educational presentations, games, and other activities. Returning this year is the World Ocean pavilion, which features educational and fun activities focused on water conservation.

The Palm Beach Zoo is hosting another Early Explorer series this upcoming Saturday, March 9th.

The Early Explorer experience is an interactive educational series designed for pre-schooled aged children, created for children ages 3 to 4 years old. This Saturday the theme is Terrific Tails. The series includes an up-close animal encounter, games, story time, arts and crafts, and visits through the animal habitats throughout the Nature Play area and the Zoo.

Pre-registration is required for children to attend, and one adult is required to attend with each child.

The cost is $ 25 dollars per session for members or $50 dollars per session for non-members. The non-member price includes all day admission to the Zoo after the series. Click here to register.

Bring your dogs to the waterfront in West Palm Beach this Sunday, February 10th for their “Paws In The Park” event starting at 10 am.

On November 10th, Westchester Country Club in Boynton Beach will be hosting the 9th Annual Golf “Fore” Paws to benefit the Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue.

The rescue’s mission is to reduce the number of homeless dogs and cats from becoming victims to shelter euthanasia, while educating the public on the importance of adoption and spay and neuter in the community. Every animal rescued is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, tested, provided medical care, and placed in a foster home.

To date, the Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue has saved more than 8,000 dogs and cats from being euthanized, has performed over 1,200 surgeries, plus over 6,000 spays and neuters.

The charity golf tournament takes place on November 10th from 10:30am until 7:30pm…

On Friday, October 26th, the Humane Society of Greater Jupiter/Tequesta will be hosting “PAWTY Masquerade,” a party to raise money and awareness for its mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home animals.

The event will take place at the Wyndham Grand Jupiter located at Harbourside Place in Jupiter, Linda Gore will serve as event chairman, and the evening will be filled with excitement, fun, dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions, and lots of delightful surprises.
