This Saturday, September 21st is International Coastal Clean Up day around the world. International Coastal Clean Up Day is the world’s largest event where volunteers come together to help clean up our beaches and help to protect marine life. The event happens every year and volunteers from over 100 countries head to their local beaches and coastline to show their support for a cleaner ocean.

Here are some Clean Up events going on this Saturday in Palm Beach County. If you wish to volunteer, you can pre-register by contacting the coordinator listed for each clean up location. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is preparing to release another sea turtle, named Aquaman back into the ocean this Thursday, February 21st.

Aquaman is a large juvenile green sea turtle that was found in the Lake Worth Lagoon in North Palm Beach in January 2018. The sea turtle arrived at the research and rehabilitation center with a fishing line entangled around its left front flipper. The Center carefully removed the line and the wound was treated with a therapeutic laser and some honey. The sea turtle also received antibiotics and was monitored closely throughout the last year.

Thursday, Aquaman will be released back into the ocean. Activities for the release will start at 10:30 am, where the center will explain the history and journey…
