This is when a special species migrates to South Florida - sportfishing teams in the pursuit of billfish, the tournaments, and the large amount of cash that can be won (and spent) along with it. The 65th Stuart Sailfish Club Light Tackle Tournament will be held December 5th-8th to benefit the club’s scholarship fund. Every year, the Club provides scholarships to five Martin County students furthering their education in the fields of Marine Science, Marine Biology, or Marine Conservation.

The tournament includes two divisions; Light Tackle and the Treasure Coast Championship. The event includes a kick-off party and nightly festivities. All registered participants are provided a daily breakfast, a lunch to go, and a BBQ on the dock each night, followed by the awards banquet dinner on Saturday, December 8th.

This past weekend, Bluewater Babes Fish for A Cure celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a bang- literally! The usual festivities at Sailfish Marina were not only over the top, but the series of events culminated with a grand fireworks show over Peanut Island.   When it comes to fishing, SPICED RUM's Sherry Beswick took first place Kingfish with 42.7 lbs, Stacy Maderal of LUNATICO took second with 20.5 lbs, and Gwen Belcher of PRETTY WORK won third with 19.3 lbs. Tasha Ford of TEMPTATION won first place dolphin with 20.2 lbs, Tina Martin of THANKS GIRLS won second with 15.6 lbs, and Shannon Discount won third with 15.3 lbs. On Thursday, September 20th, Bluewater Babes Fish For a Cure will host their 10th annual kick-off party at Square Grouper on Jupiter Inlet.

For a $20 donation, guests will receive a Bluewater Babes cup and drink ticket for either a Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktail or a draft beer from Tequesta Brewing Company.

Bluewater Babes Fish For a Cure is an all-female fishing tournament that has had Floridians anticipating the festive mix of fishing, boat decorating, and creative costumes all year round. The final leg of the West Palm Beach Fishing Club’s Full Moon Wahoo Tournament Series is tomorrow, August 25th, with final weigh-ins at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island.

Centered around the three full moons of summer in South Florida, the tournament began with the strawberry moon in June, followed by the buck moon in July, and culminating with the sturgeon moon in August. Cash payouts are awarded to the top three boats of each full moon fishing day, then a grand prize will be awarded to the boat with the most aggregate weight from all three full moons.

So far, team YELLOWFIN is in first place with 50.4 lbs after bringing in a 24.4 lb wahoo in June and a 26.0 lb wahoo in July,…

This past weekend at Rybovich Superyacht Marina, over 85 boats from all over Palm Beach County showed up to support the much-needed research and awareness of prostate cancer by fishing in the Anglers For The Cure KDW Tournament.

The day of fishing proved sparse for most competitors, with kingfish being the only species that seemed to truly be showing up. Although most teams tried zig-zagging for wahoo at first light, the only wahoo caught was reeled in around 2 pm. At 22.9 pounds, it weighed in and won 1st place wahoo (and only wahoo on the board) in the Mark Gerretson Memorial Fishing Tournament in Delray Beach, as well as number one and only in the Anglers For The Cure…

This year marks the 4th annual Anglers For The Cure KDW fishing tournament benefiting research efforts and awareness of prostate cancer. The tournament will take place at Rybovich Superyacht Marina in West Palm Beach on August 9th and 11th, 2018.

Anglers For The Cure was founded by Jupiter resident Adriana Somberg’s husband Reed passed away from prostate cancer in 2014, less than 5 years after his first PSA (prostate-specific antigen) screening.

“Had Reed taken his first PSA screening earlier — at 45 or 50 instead of 54 — he’d still be with us today,” says Somberg.
