While Palm Beach County is usually the opposite of spooky, during October we get a little festive. Here a few fun, local places to visit before Halloween.

Riddle House

Located in Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds, the Riddle House is said to be full of ghosts.

In the early 1900s, it was the home of the gatekeeper for a cemetery in West Palm Beach. Years later, it was moved to become part of the village. After the move, workers swore that their tools were mysteriously moved, and one man claimed a tool hit someone in the head.

Visitors have seen a boy playing in a bedroom and a woman getting ready for bed, according to reports.

MoonFest is back again for another year for the ultimate haunted house through the streets of West Palm Beach. The popular Halloween event is back for its 27th Annual MoonFest.

The Halloween spectacular is for those 21 years old older and takes places along the four haunted blocks of Clematis Street. The four blocks transform into the scariest haunted house and Halloween event this Saturday, October 26th.

The event will also feature a private entrance, scare areas, VIP areas, open bars, gourmet food buffet, Costume Contest for your chance to win $1000 dollars, live music and much more.

For two days, Boynton Beach transforms into the ultimate Haunted Pirate Fest and Mermaid Splash. All are invited to attend the event this Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th.

The fun filled event will feature pirate re-enactments, mermaids, street performers, character appearances from Captain Jack, live mermaid tanks, and live music and entertainment. The popular event is free and open to the public.

There will also be a Hook and Tails Costume Contest for the best pirate and best mermaid costumes, acrobats, interactive pirate ships, children’s shows, treasure hunts and much more.

On the last Friday of each month, the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium allows visitors and guests to attend their popular Nights At The Museum event.

The fun filled night is for the whole family and includes extended hours to explore and wonder through the Science Center and Aquarium. Each month is a different theme and since Halloween is at the end of the month, this Friday’s theme is Spooky Science.

The night will include a Liquid Nitrogen Live Science Show, haunted miniature golf and trail, Superhero and Villain Trivia, Dry Ice Boo Bubbles, Oozing Pumpkin demonstrations, challenges, crafts, entertainment, exhibits, and much more. It’s almost that time again for the parade of kids dressed up in the array of costumes looking for candy.If you are passing out goodies, be on the lookout for blue pumpkins or bags this year. This signifies that they are on the Autism spectrum.

 In 2018 the CDC determined that approximately 1 in 59 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or ASD. An estimated one-third of people with autism are non-verbal. 31% of children with ASD have an IQ less than 70, and 25% are in the borderline range of 71-85.  Nearly two-thirds of children with autism between the ages of 6 and 15 have been bullied.

This October, The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens is transforming into the Batty Manor Haunted House this Halloween season. The Grand Court of the mall will feature a silly-spooky haunted house.

All are welcomed to come and check out house in their Halloween costumes. There will also be an interactive photo booth, retail and restaurant pop-up shops, arts and crafts, and much more.

Batty Manor is home to Boogah and Hoogah, two of the goofiest goblins that perform live sing-a longs and Halloweens shows daily.

The Manor Haunted House will also feature the Hoogah’s Horrible House Party Show from Saturday, October 26th through Thursday, October 31st at 1 pm daily.

Calling all aspiring Scientists, The River Center in Jupiter is hosting their Mad Science Lab Halloween Party this October.

Grab your lab coat and safety googles for a Halloween explosion at the Mad Science Lab’s Halloween experiment. The event will include science demonstrations and experiments, crafts, games, hayrides, Campfire and smores, treat or treating and much more.

Costumes are welcomed and encouraged for the party. The Halloween bash is on Friday, October 18th at 6 pm at The River Center. The cost is attend is $3 dollars per person or $10 dollars per family of four or more.

The annual Pumpkin Fest at Harbourside Place is back again for another year. The Pumpkin Fest is one of the best fall festivals in Palm Beach County.

On Saturday, October 19th head to Harbourside Place in Jupiter for the ultimate fall activity. The free fun filled day includes a costume contest for kids, treat-o-treating at more than 50 vendors and around Harbourside Place, a giant Pumpkin Patch, face painting, games and much more.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Chasin A Dream Foundation, for local children who are battling illnesses.
