The Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium located in Jupiter’s Abacoa is hosting a few Minor League Baseball games this upcoming weekend. The first game begins tonight at 6:30 pm. 

The Roger Dean Stadium is home to two Palm Beach County Minor League Baseball teams, The Palm Beach Cardinals and The Jupiter Hammerheads. The stadium is a popular attraction during Spring Training when the two Major League Teams, The Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals hosts their Spring Training here in Jupiter.

This Saturday, the Town of Jupiter is hosting their Annual 5K Turtle Trot at Ocean Cay Park along A1A for its 30th Anniversary.

The 5K Turtle Trot has been a hometown tradition for many runners as well as for visitors, first time participants, and families. The course is out and back 3.1 miles along the beautiful Jupiter beach. The race begins and ends in Ocean Cay Park where participants will enjoy post-race music, delicious continental breakfast items, complementary massages, and much more. All race finishers will receive a medal and a free t-shirt. Accuchip will manage the timing and scoring for all participants.

This Friday, head to the Jupiter Lighthouse to explore and learn about the history and nature of the lighthouse and the Outstanding Natural Area onsite. 

The Jupiter Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (JILONA) Act was introduced into the US Senate designating the lighthouse and the 120 surrounding acres of Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) into the Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management National Landscape Conservation System. The site located in Jupiter is the first Outstanding Natural Area in the Nation east of the Pacific Coast. The other two sites are located in Yaquina Head in Oregon, and Piedras Blancas Lighthouse in California. Northern Palm Beach County is a popular place for the Sea Turtle Nesting Season. Along the shore in Jupiter and Juno Beach, hundreds of sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach monitors the beach beginning May 1st through October 31st to provide care for the sick and injured sea turtles before releasing them back into the ocean. 

The thousands of sea turtle nests that will be found along the beach usually contain about 100 eggs in each, requiring 45 to 60 days before they start to hatch. The Town of Jupiter is one of the few remaining locations in the state of Florida to have dog-friendly beaches. The town adopted the policy in 1989 and since then, the area has grown to over 2.5 mile stretch along the beach. 

The Jupiter Dog Beach stretches from beach marker #25 at Marcinski road, going north to beach marker #59 at the south end of Carlin Park. In this designated area, dogs are allowed to roam freely but must be supervised. 

The Town of Jupiter has set in place a number of rules that should be followed when bringing your dog to the beach. Lighthouse Sunset Tour: Wednesday, April 20th and Wednesday, April 27th at 7:15 pm

Climb the 105 steps to the top and take in the specular sunset views of Jupiter and the ocean. Every Sunday during the month of December, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, in Juno Beach, is hosting their reoccurring Hammock Hike. The Hammock Hike consists of an entirely outdoor excursion into the coastal hammock habitat near the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center.

The program will cover and discuss the importance of these coastal ecosystems, explain and identify plants and animals, and the hike will end with an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean. The hike is led by one of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s experienced biologists.

All ages are welcome to attend the Hammock Hike. The event is an outdoor walking excursion and lasts approximately 45 minutes.
