The Town of Jupiter is once again planning to bring some holiday cheer to families this year since the traditional holiday events may look a littler different this year. The Town of Jupiter Recreation Staff came up with the idea to release Holiday Activity boxes for Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday.

Beginning today, Monday, November 9th, the Thanksgiving Holiday Activity box is available to purchase online or at the Jupiter Community Center.  The town released a Halloween Activity Box that was a huge success, and they are hoping Thanksgiving and Winter Fun Box will be even better.

Each box will be filled with art projects, games, a cooking project, treats, and an activity booklet to match. The Thanksgiving Activity Box is on sale now and each

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts a Kids Fishing Program every Saturday morning until April 2021. Participants will learn the basic techniques for fishing from the Juno Beach Pier.

The program is recommended for children ages 8 through 12 and the program will teach and explain the concepts of fishing, knot tying, casting, fish handling, and the proper catch and release techniques used. In addition to learning new fishing skills, participants will also learn how to be ethical anglers and how o reduce their impact on marinelife.

The fish caught during the day will always be released. All fishing equipment and bait will be provided. Advanced registration is required to reserve a spot due to limited space.

Traditional holiday events might look a little different this year, but the Town of Jupiter is planning to bring some holiday magic to families. The Recreation staff has come up with the idea for Holiday Activity Boxes for the upcoming holiday season.

Beginning today, Monday October 19th, Holiday Boxes will be available to purchase online or at the Jupiter Community Center. The Holiday Boxes will feature Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Winter Fun boxes. The boxes will be filled with art projects, cooking projects, treats, activity booklets, games, and more.

The boxes are $15 dollars each ($10 dollars for each additional sibling) and is available to purchase online today. Currently the Halloween Activity Box is the only box to purchase starting today.

This August the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society is offering kids free admission for every full-priced adult ticket. Two children under the age of 13 will be able to get into the zoo for free throughout the month of August.

The Palm Beach Zoo is home to hundreds of animals and species, many of them are endangered. The zoo features 23 acres of lush tropical habitat. Animals include monkey’s, alligators, birds, tigers, elephants, jaguars, bears, sloths, and much more.

The Martin County School District Board has voted to stay with their original school calendar for the upcoming school year.  Some school board members wanted to push back the start of the school year to August 25th but negotiations with the teacher’s union and the Martin County Education Association were not successful.

Students in Martin County School District will be heading to the classroom for in-person learning on Tuesday, August 11th. Teachers are scheduled to head back to the classroom on Monday, August 3rd.

Parents of students in the Martin County School District have the option to send their children to school for traditional learning or remote learning via live stream. Whichever option they chose will be heading back to school on August

The Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida is hosting a three-day virtual summer camp for kids and space enthusiasts.

The virtual summer camp will feature hands-on missions inspired by real launches to the moon, science, technology, engineering and math activities. Kids will also get a change to take a virtual trip to Mars. The virtual summer camp is aimed for elementary school age students and is open to everyone around the United States.

The summer camp is an online three-day camp, with each session last three hours. The campers will connect in real time through Zoom video conference to a member of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Education Staff. This summer, the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is hosting a virtual summer camp for kids interested in nature and science.

The summer camp consists of five sessions once a week and campers will get a chance to create activities through their interactive camp sessions. The campers must have access to a computer of mobile device and most of the activities will take place outside in your own backyard.

The sessions include topics such as conservation, cool science facts, and South Florida’s eco-system. Those who register for the virtual camp will receive a camp box filled with supplies for crafts, exploration, and activities.

The camp dates will be based on grade level each child will be entering in the fall.

The Town of Jupiter is thinking of fun and entertaining ways to keep kids thinking and active this summer. The town recently announced their newest program called “Camp in a Box”.

Every month during the summer, the town hosts a summer camp filled with activities and projects that all match that week’s theme. Each week has a different thing and each box includes activities such as cooking projects, socially distinct games, arts and crafts, virtual tours, and much more. Tour counselors will create videos and post them each week for guidance and directions.

The “Camp in a Box” boxes will include materials for each week’s theme. Boxes can be picked up the Friday before the activity week at Jupiter’s Community Center. “Camp in a Box” costs $20 dollars

Summer plans may have been changed for some this summer but there is still ways to keep kids entertained. Virtual summer camps are becoming the newest things to do this summer to stay busy and safe this summer.

Many of virtual summer camps are free and offer hours long of entertainment and activities to keep the kids busy during the day while still giving kids the opportunity to meet new people and socialize.

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is currently hosting a virtual summer camp this June and will transition into in-person sessions starting June 22nd. The summer camp is designed for children ages seven to twelve.

The virtual camps will feature the innovative Camp-in-a-Box which contained a majority of the supplies needed for the at-home experiment and can be picked up at the center. The summer camps last a week and each week is a different topic and experiment.

Next week, starting Monday, June 15th, the theme for the camp is In My Backyard. The session will explore Florida’s ecosystems and will last until Friday, June 19th. The sessions are an hour long and are spilt up between two age groups, ages seven to nine and ten to twelve.
