On September 23rd, Eau Palm Beach Resort will be hosting the third annual Burger & Beer Bash to fundraise for Loggerhead Marinelife Center.

Not only will a portion of proceeds benefit efforts to save the sea turtles, but event-goers will have the pleasure of participating as “judges” of burger-and-beer pairings. Eau’s head chefs will partner with local breweries in a friendly competition, and guests will enjoy all pairings before indicating their favorites on a ballot.

Participating area breweries include Due South, Copperpoint, Funky Buddha, SaltWater Brewery and Tequesta Brewing Company.

Tickets are $65 a person, and the affair will be 1-4pm at the Manalapan resort on 100 S. Ocean Blvd.

One night, each month is an evening event hosted by The Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) called “Astronomy Nights.” Astronomy Nights are beautiful evenings below the stars with the educated and passionate staff of LMC & the Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches teaching guests about the celestial bodies above and more. 

Evenings with Astronomy Nights begin with a seminar led by the Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches. The discussion will focus on the night sky at that particular time. Guests will get to gaze up with their naked eyes and have the chance to use the professional telescopes and binoculars provided by the Astronomical Society. One of the most cherished and celebrated events to occur in Jupiter is when the sea turtles make their way onto the beaches to lay their eggs. The month of May is the time for you to register for the nighttime walks to witness this incredible site.

Every Tuesday, at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is a new program for seniors in the area, called “Science for Seniors.” Science for Seniors is an incredible lecture series discussing health and science. What makes this program so impressive is its leader, Dr. Brown of Harvard University and Tufts University of Medicine. Dr. Brown has some incredible knowledge and experience to share and some great tools to help get the participants involved in the lecutres.

Bring the kids out to the Mangrove Exhibit at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach for a day of feeding the wildlife! Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 3 in the afternoon the fish feeding takes place. 

Guests will get to take a tour through the Mangrove Exhibit, which is a beautiful display of Florida’s coastal ecosystems. You will learn about the importance of estuaries, mangrove islands, and the symbiotic relationships between these animals and their environments. The best part of the demonstration is the feeding! The staff of educated professionals at Loggerhead Marinelife Center will show guests how to feed different animals within the aquarium, from sea anemones to fish and even corals.

The most anticipated time of year has come in southern Florida, sea turtle season. The turtles have come to lay their eggs and now the eggs are hatching. “The Biologist Beach Walk program is a unique opportunity for Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) in Juno Beach, educators to give the public insight into LMC’s research and conservation efforts.”

Attendees of the walks will get to learn about the different species of sea turtles, how they migrate, interact and nest on our beaches. The experienced biologists leading the tour teach guests inside tricks on how to spot nests will also teach guests and hatchlings where they will often get to see hatchlings. The Junior Vet Lab is a must try experience for local kids who love Marinelife and animals! Taking place at the Loggerhead Marine Life Center in Juno Beach, the Junior Vet Lab educates kids 12 years of age and under about the science behind rehabilitating and releasing turtles back into their natural habitat. 

“Dr. Logger,” one of the educated volunteers at Loggerhead, leads the program. The program happens daily for about 30 minutes and walks the kids through the center talking about everyone from rescue to release. The day starts with a role-played phone call to Dr. Logger over the walkie talkie with the kids, asking them to come to the beach to help an injured turtle. Experience Jupiter’s gorgeous beaches with a new perspective, by taking a guided tour of the beaches with the knowledgable staff of Loggerhead Marinelife Center. The “Living Beaches” tours show you just how alive the beach ecosystems of Florida really are. From the dunes to the ocean and even the sand, its all full of life.
