The iconic Breakers Hotel on Palm Beach is now open for hotel guests. The historic hotel opened its door to guests on Friday, May 22nd after a 10-week temporary closure amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Since being closed the staff of the hotel has examined and reviewed every area and hotel space to enhanced safeguards.

The hotel outlined in a 16-page document their enhanced safety and cleaning procedures to the Health and Safety Precautions in Response to Covid-19 before reopening. The hotel’s cleaning and safety procedures meet and exceed all government guidelines and industry recommendations.

 Every housekeeper will be provided gloves, shoe coverings and facial masks, and every room will be properly disinfected. The staff will continue to monitor…

Governor DeSantis announced on Wednesday that parts of Florida can begin Phase Two of reopening. Governor DeSantis spoke at Universal Studios CityWalk in Orlando. The Governor said that Florida is ready to enter Phase Two of its reopening plan.

The new Phase Two guidelines apply to 64 counties in Florida, Palm Beach County, Broward County and Miami-Dade County are excluded from Phase Two at this time. However, county officials and mayors can submit their own reopening plans to the Governor for consideration.

The new Phase Two guidelines will take effect Friday, June 5th, 2020. New guidelines include:

  • Restaurants may allow bar-top seating with appropriate social distancing
  • Pubs and Bars may operate at 50% capacity inside and full capacity…

For the past few years, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts their annual Run 4 The Sea race to help celebrate ocean conservation and raise money for endangered sea turtles. Usually, the event takes place along A1A and the beach in Juno Beach and Jupiter, but this year the run will now be virtual.

The 2020 Run 4 The Sea is now a virtual 4-mile timed race and a kid’s 1 miler at any location of your choosing. Proceeds from the run will still benefit The Loggerhead Marinelife Center.  This year marks the 9th annual Run 4 The Sea.

The Run is open to runners, walkers, and hikers of all ages. The cost is $40 dollars for adults and $20 dollars for children. All participants will receive a sport style participant t-shirt and a custom finisher medal.

One of Palm Beach Island’s most popular attraction, The Flagler Museum is planning to reopen their doors to visitors on Tuesday, June 9th.

The museum is planning to have reduced hours and signs in the museum to ensure the safety of all who visit. The Flagler Museum’s new hours starting June 9th will be Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. All visitors will be required to pre-purchase General Admission tickets using a credit card or pay-pay online. Tickets will be limited to 4 tickets per purchase.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum reopened to visitors last weekend and visitors were allowed to climb to the top of the lighthouse tower.

In addition to the Lighthouse being open for tours, visitors can visit the historic grounds and visit the lighthouse giftshop. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is reopening in phases with limited hours and days. Currently, the hours of operation are Thursday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm with the last grounds admission being at 3 pm.

Last week, the West Palm Beach Mayor, Mayor James, stated that “the show must go on”. The Mayor was referring to the popular 4th on Flagler event that happens every year on the waterfront in West Palm Beach.

This year, the celebration will be celebrated a little differently. Instead of spectators lining the waterfront and Flagler Drive, spectators will be able to watch the firework spectacular from the comfort of their own homes. This year, the 4th on Flagler will be televised due to social distancing and the CDC guidelines and recommendations.

The 4th on Flagler event will not only be celebrating America’s independence but will also celebrate West Palm Beach 125th anniversary as a city. West Palm Beach became a city on July 21st, 1903.

Starting today, shoppers across the state of Florida can avoid sales tax on certain items in preparation with the start of hurricane season. Hurricane season in Florida starts on June 1st and goes through November 30th. For a short few day you can avoid paying sales tax by putting together and gathering your preparation stockpiles to be prepared in case of a storm.

The seven-day sales tax holiday starts today, Friday May 29th and goes until Thursday, June 4th. During this time, shoppers can avoid paying sales tax on these items.

  • Reusable ice packs ($10 dollars or less)
  • Flashlights and Lanterns ($20 dollars or less)
  • Gasoline and Diesel fuel containers ($25 dollars or less)
  • Coolers ($30 dollars or less)

Good news for college students in Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Atlantic University is planning on bringing staff, faculty, and students back to campus in August. The big questions going around for college students is whether they will resume in-person classes this fall semester.

Palm Beach Atlantic University announced on Thursday, May 28th from their West Palm Beach campus that they intend to bring students, staff, and faculty back to campus to resume classes in August. The school said in a written statement that they plan to continue to follow the CDC guidelines to safety return to teaching and residential living for the 2020 Fall semester.

Things are starting to get back to normal at The Gardens Mall. The two-story mall located in Palm Beach Gardens reopened Friday, May 15th for shoppers after being closed for nearly two months.

The Gardens Mall joins Boca Raton’s Town Center Mall and The Mall at Wellington Green which opened earlier this month and the Palm Beach Outlets among the list of major retailers to reopen in Palm Beach County.  

All mall employees will wear masks and every day when before their shift begins will have their temperature checked.
