The Juno Beach Pier and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is back open for business. The 990-foot-long fishing pier and the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center has reopened to the public as of Monday, May 18th.

The pier closed back in March when Palm Beach County shut down the beaches. At the pier, social distancing guidelines are expected to be followed and 200 people are allowed on the pier at one time. The Pier will resume its normal operations, sunrise to sunset Monday through Sunday. All transactions will be conducted through a partitioned window to eliminate contact. Masks are not required to be worn at the Juno Beach Pier.

The Sea Turtle Research Hospital will resume their normal hours form 10 am to 5 pm with a limited guest count.…

Yesterday, golf returned in Florida for the TaylorMade Driving Relief Charity match that was held at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach. Palm Beach County residents and professional golfers Matthew Wolff and Rickie Fowler competed against Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson in a team’s skins game with a $3 million dollar prize to be donated to coronavirus relief.

The match began at 2 pm yesterday and McIlroy and Johnson played for the American Nurses Foundation and Fowler and Wolff played for the CDC Foundation. The final results gave the American Nurses Foundation $1.85 million dollars from the McIlroy and Johnson team and $1.15 million dollars to the CDC Foundation from the Fowler and Wolff team.

Good news for Floridians, Governor DeSantis announced last week that the entire state of Florida will begin to enter the full Phase One of reopening the state and its economy, getting one step closer at getting life back to normal.

As more things begin to open in Florida, you are still asked to follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and wear a face mask to keep the spread of COVID-19 numbers down.

Here is what is open in Palm Beach County and the state:

Restaurants

Food establishments may increase their indoor capacity to 50% instead of 25% with the proper social distancing and outdoor seating is encouraged.

Retail Stores

Stores are allowed to operate at 50% capacity indoors.

The Town of Jupiter and Palm Beach County have issued an update regarding beaches and beach parks. Effective Monday, May 18, 2020 all public, private, and municipal beaches and beach parks in Palm Beach County will conditionally re-open after being closed for nearly two months due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.  

Beachgoers will be allowed to sunbathe, and concession stands for beach chairs and umbrellas, along with food and beverage stands, will be allowed to operate.The beaches and beach parks will open to the public under the following conditions and restrictions:

• Beaches will be open between sunrise and sunset only.

• Parties accessing the beaches shall follow CDC guidelines by limiting gatherings to no more than 10…

The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens is reopening their doors to shoppers starting today. The mall closed in the middle of March due to Covid-19 and has gotten to approval from the Governor to reopen. 

Recently the mall sent out survey’s to mall customers on tips and feedback on how they should reopen and what shoppers should expect to see when the mall opens back up. The results from the survey found that shoppers are anxious to get back to the mall.

For the past several weeks, the popular Florida based grocery store adjusted their hours and reserved shopping hours for seniors only during the pandemic. With the Covid-19 numbers continuing to go down in Florida, Publix will now be opening during their normal hours of operation beginning tomorrow, Saturday, May 16th. 

In a press release, Publix announced that shopping will resume normal hours from 7 am to 9 pm and that Publix pharmacies will be returning to their normal hours as well. 

The company also thanked everyone for their support over the past few weeks and understand that some customers will still like to shop when the stores are less crowded and encourage them to shop in the first hour of the day.

At the end of April, Palm Beach County Commissioners and Governor DeSantis met to discus the reopening of Palm Beach County.  That day, April 29th, golf courses, marinas, boat ramps, community pools, tennis courts, parks and other recreational got permission to start opening with restrictions.  Beaches and beach parks still remain closed in Palm Beach County. 

The county and golf course professionals are taking steps to keep golfers safe on the golf course and to keep COVID-19 counts down in Palm Beach County. For golfers who have been itching to get back on the golf course, please note the restrictions set in place to keep everyone safe.

In a meeting held by Governor DeSantis yesterday, that he plans on opening up Florida to all professional sports teams that want to resume activity. 

DeSantis said” all professional sports are welcome here for practicing and for playing”. The conference was held yesterday afternoon in Tallahassee. DeSantis also mentioned that “if you have a team in a area that won’t let you practice, we’ll find a place for you here in Florida”. 

The news is coming a month after Florida Division of Emergency Management agreed that professional sports are considered an essential service and were allowed to resume play in Florida, provided they are closed to the general public.  The governor made a comment stating that while professional sports might not necessarily…

Jupiter Medical Center (JMC) was ranked number one hospital for “safety, quality and patient satisfaction” in Palm Beach County. It was announced that the Town of Jupiter’s hospital has been awarded an ‘A’ safety grade rating and is the only hospital in Palm Beach County to earn the highest rating this spring.

Over the past few days and weeks, Palm Beach County has been taking steps to enter into Phase One of Reopening Florida. Like Palm Beach County, many nearby counties have reopened restaurants; parks, community pools, tennis courts, golf courses and some have reopened their beaches. 

As of know, Palm Beach County beaches remain closed but there is going to be a meeting this Friday, May 15th to discuss the possibility of reopening beaches in Palm Beach County as early as next week. 

During a meeting last Friday, May 8th, county commissioners made the decision in a 4-3 vote during the special board meeting. County commissioners will meet again this Friday, May 15th to finalize the final decision.
