Good Housekeeping Magazine conducted a study of the “60 Charming American Town You Haven’t Heard of But Should Visit ASAP” and not only but the Martin County’s Stuart has made the list. Stuart ranked number six of 60 charming American towns and one of a few Florida towns on the list.

The charming city is a favorite by many.  Stuart is known as the Sailfish Capital of the world because of its location along the banks of the St. Lucie River, the Indian River Lagoon, and the eastern point of the Okeechobee waterways, where many sailfish are found in the waters.

The skies of Martin County will be taken over by planes and jets for the annual Stuart Air Show. The air show will take place this weekend at the Witham Field Airport in Stuart on Saturday and Sunday.

Come and watch these incredible airplanes do amazing stunts, turns, and tricks at high speeds and high altitudes. For the second year in a row, there will also be a helicopter stunt show. In early 2020, the Martin County Golf Course began renovations to the course and a name change. The new course is now called “Sailfish Sands” and the new course is going to be bolder, innovative, and more unique, nothing like any other course in Martin County.

Earlier this week, the Martin County Parks and Recreation Director announced that he went before the County Commission to update them on the progress of the massive project and to ask for additional funding. The director and course asked for $3 million dollars more which will bring the complete renovation cost to around $8 million dollars and the county approved the changes during the meeting. Head to downtown Stuart this weekend for the 21st Annual Stuart Craft Festival. The popular festival draws hundreds of vendors displaying their homemade goods, jewelry, paintings, photography, sculptures, and much more.

The annual festival is located along the banks of the St. Lucie River near downtown Stuart. In addition to the Craft Festival, Downtown Stuart is boosting with over 70 shops, boutiques, and restaurants to explore while at the Craft Festival.

The event is free to attend with vendor purchases. If you are planning on attending, all visitors are asked to reserve a ticket during a certain time slot in which they plan on arriving online.

Registration is now open for the annual Treasure Coast Halloween Half Marathon this October 25th. The fun and spooky Halloween Half Marathon is open to both walkers and runners and participant will have a choice of three events to choose from.

The events will include the traditional Half Marathon, a 3-Person Team Relay (back by popular demand), or a Virtual Event. The competitive race will begin at 6:30 am on Sunday, October 25th and will start at the Stuart Memorial Park. The event is 13.1 miles long and is a timed chipped marathon. T-shirts and finisher medals will be presented and giving to all participants in the event. The Halloween Half Marathon will also feature a costume contest for participants.

Early voting has started in Palm Beach County yesterday, August 3rd and will soon be open in Martin County and the Treasure Coast later this week. Florida’s Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 18th.

Here is what to bring if you plan on voting early in the Primary Election.

  • A valid photo identification
  • A signature identification

Today, Martin County leaders will meet up and discuss the county’s next steps in reopening. County Commissioners are holding a meeting this morning at the Blake Library in downtown Stuart. 

The meeting today will review the state guidelines that Governor DeSantis laid out earlier this week about Florida’s plan to reopen in phases. The County Commissioners are currently meeting to make the best decision for the Martin County residents.
