Nothing says Halloween or Fall more than a bright orange pumpkin. The pumpkin is the most beloved symbol of the season and along with that comes some interesting facts that you might not have known.

Here are some interesting facts about Pumpkins.

Pumpkins are fruits, not vegetables. Fruits are considered to be the part of the plant that has seeds on the inside. By this definition, a pumpkin is a fruit and a member of the gourd family. The gourd family includes other fruits like winter squash and watermelon.

Pumpkins grow almost everywhere. Pumpkins are grown on six of the seven continents including Alaska. The only continent where pumpkins cannot grow is Antarctica.

This Halloween season, The Gardens Mall is transforming its Grand Court into the Batty Manor Halloween House. Starting this Saturday, October 17th through Saturday, October 31st the Grand Court will be decorated for Halloween and will feature its spooky-silly haunted house.

The Batty Manor house will feature two ghosts, Mrs. Whistifer and her friend Mr. Hanks. The two will be telling Halloween riddles, jokes, songs, and much more in celebration of Halloween this October 31st.

Downtown Palm Beach Gardens is hosting two Halloween events this year. Starting this week, October 16th, stop by the outdoor shopping and lifestyle center in Palm Beach Gardens and participate in the Halloween events this year.

Downtown Palm Beach Gardens “Feed The Pumpkin” Drive:

In honor of World Food Day, shoppers and visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the “Feed The Pumpkin” bins located throughout the center for their month long food drive.  Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the pumpkin shaped bins. At the end of the month, the donations will benefit the Palm Beach County Food Bank. Suggested donations include pasta, canned vegetables, beans, canned meats, cereal, oatmeal and more. Head to downtown Stuart this weekend for the 21st Annual Stuart Craft Festival. The popular festival draws hundreds of vendors displaying their homemade goods, jewelry, paintings, photography, sculptures, and much more.

The annual festival is located along the banks of the St. Lucie River near downtown Stuart. In addition to the Craft Festival, Downtown Stuart is boosting with over 70 shops, boutiques, and restaurants to explore while at the Craft Festival.

The event is free to attend with vendor purchases. If you are planning on attending, all visitors are asked to reserve a ticket during a certain time slot in which they plan on arriving online.

The Lighthouse ArtCenter is celebrating its recent reopening and the debut of the newly renovated School of Art by hosting in-person Fall Session Art Classes. The classes and sessions will take place at its location in Tequesta beginning next Monday, October 19th through December 19th.

The eight-week session will take students through courses in ceramics, fused glass, jewelry, drawing, metalsmithing, painting, photography, mixed media, and sculpture. New this season, the ArtCenter will also be hosting painting classes under the new chickee hut outside. In addition to the Fall classes and workshops, all are welcomed to join in on their new “Select Fridays” workshops on Friday evenings through the end of April 2021.

Palm Beach International Airport has just been named as one of the “Top Ten Best Airports in the County” again by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.  The travel magazine conducts a survey every year of some of the World’s Bests in traveling, leisure, vacation destinations, hotels, restaurants, and much more. Downtown Palm Beach Gardens is kicking off the Fall season with a list of special events that includes fitness, fashion, and music.

The lifestyle and shopping center is welcoming fitness lovers to workout with HIIT, Zumba, and Yoga classes throughout the month in addition to their weekly outdoor fitness series. The workout class cost $5 dollars (cash only) and guests need to bring their own yoga mat, towels, and a drink.

Registration is now open for the annual Treasure Coast Halloween Half Marathon this October 25th. The fun and spooky Halloween Half Marathon is open to both walkers and runners and participant will have a choice of three events to choose from.

The events will include the traditional Half Marathon, a 3-Person Team Relay (back by popular demand), or a Virtual Event. The competitive race will begin at 6:30 am on Sunday, October 25th and will start at the Stuart Memorial Park. The event is 13.1 miles long and is a timed chipped marathon. T-shirts and finisher medals will be presented and giving to all participants in the event. The Halloween Half Marathon will also feature a costume contest for participants.
