The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) intends to utilize the power of people to fight ocean trash at Jupiter Beaches and other worldwide beaches and waterways. Marine debris is one of the greatest threats our ocean faces, but luckily it is an issue with which we can all play a part in the resolution. 

For every mile of ocean, there are at least 46,000 pieces of plastic debris floating within said distance. Furthermore, plastic does not decompose over a long period and only disintegrates, minute plastic particles are already showing up in our food and water. If these trends continue, it won’t be long before we face disastrous outcomes for our environment.

There is a 750-seat theatre which is a cultural hub for northern Palm Beach County. The Eissey Campus Theatre has been presenting community programs as well as entertainment through its popular music series. The Eissey Campus Theatre is located at 11051 Campus Drive, in Palm Beach Gardens. The Theatre is on the campus of Palm Beach State College.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, here in Jupiter, is the highlighted lighthouse on every new “Visit Our Lights” specialty license plate sold by Florida’s Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. There are thirty lighthouses still standing proud in Florida. There is a $25 annual special fee for the plates, in addition to registration fees. Proceeds benefit the Florida Lighthouse Association, a nonprofit that supports the preservation of the state’s lighthouses. The new plate with the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse will be available for the next 10 years. The original version of the specialty plate has been available for purchase since 2008. It illustrated the striped St. Augustine Lighthouse.

Hoping to end the flow of trash at the source ending the flow of trash at the source. It is working to protect the ocean from today’s greatest global challenges creating evidence-based solutions for a healthy ocean and the wildlife and communities that depend on it.

The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) unites people to remove trash from the world’s beaches and waterways. Thanks to volunteers around the world, the ICC has become a guiding light of hope, leading, and encouraging action in support of the ocean.

The Friends of Jupiter Beach's September beach cleanup is slated for this Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at Ocean Cay Park in Jupiter. It happens to fall on International Coastal Cleanup Day. All volunteers will receive a FREE International Beach Cleanup Day t-shirt!  The first 100 volunteers to sign in will receive a $5 gift card to Surf Taco! The beach cleanup helps to keep trash away from the local wildlife while also helping to maintain the beaches for generations to come.
