The Coastal Classroom At The Loggerhead Marinelife Center

With Palm Beach County School District starting classes on Monday, August 31st, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach has created a new program to help students and parents with virtual learning.  Every week, the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center will be hosting their Coastal Classroom.

The Coastal Classroom is a weekly event that will begin Monday, August 31st. The purpose of the Coastal Classroom is to help students, parents, and teachers with the remote virtual learning. Students are invited to complete their virtual schoolwork at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. The Coastal Classroom is a safe in-person virtual learning space for students.

The classroom will provide each student with a safe learning space for students 8 years old and up, wifi connection, technical support, and mid-day activities for students to help them adjust to the new school year and learn.  The Coastal Classroom is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2 pm, extended hours is offered from 2 pm to 5:30 pm for an additional cost.

Students are required to bring their own laptop and or tablet for school, a headset with a microphone, lunch and snacks, and any material needed to do their individual classwork. The staff in the Coastal Classroom will only be providing technical support, there will not be any teaching or instructional guidance available.
