Wellington's Winter Equestrian Festival
The annual Winter Equestrian Festival starts this January at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington. Wellington is the home to the world’s premier winter equestrian event every year.
Each year participates range in age from 2 years old to 70 years old and more than 6,000 horses compete for more than a half a billion dollars. The Winter Equestrian Festival starts in early January and ends in late March. During the course of the three months, the festival is the longest and largest running horse show that sees some of the best riders of their class. Riders come from all 50 states and more than 52 countries and feature adult amateurs, juniors, children and Olympians.
The Palm Beach International Equestrian Center is considered to be one of the most distinctive equestrian sporting venues in the United States. The venue spans 500 acres and has 18 competition arenas, derby fields, and one of the world’s largest covered arenas.
Shows start on Wednesday’s and end on Sunday’s, with major competitions held in the International arena daily. On Saturday nights more than 10,000 viewers gather in the stands for the big main event, the Saturday Night Lights Grand Prix. During the show days, there is plenty of entertainment, food and shopping vendors and much more.
