The Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta is opening its world class art programs with an innovative approach.

 The new program introduced is for children ages 6 through 12. Children can join in on their “Super Summer” program and they will receive an ArtCamp in each box every week available by curbside pickup at the center or by mail.

The “Super Summer” art camp combines independent exploration and three optional interactive and zoom led classes with the help of the community. Each week, the box will contain the supplies needed to create your own characters and pieces. Virtual shows will be on Friday’s to show and explain their work.

With many of Florida’s coronavirus restrictions slowly being lifted, you may be wondering about travel into and out of the state. So far, many of the limitations and recommendations on travel remain unchanged. Here’s what you need to know.

Out-of-State Travelers

New York

New Yorkers traveling into Florida are instructed to self-isolate for 14 days, including those who have arrived in Florida within the past 14 days. Violators could face second-degree misdemeanor charges and up to 60 days in prison or a $500 fine.

Louisiana

Gov. DeSantis announced on Friday that anyone traveling to Florida from Louisiana needs to immediately self-isolate for a period of 14 days. The restrictions are an extension of the order that applies to New Yorkers.

Florida restaurants are now able to serve more people for dine in services. The State of Florida was entered into its Full Phase One of reopening Monday, May 18th. Restaurants and dine in services have been closed or take out and delivery only since the middle of March.

Restaurants and dining establishments are now allowed to be operating at 50% capacity instead of the 25% capacity last week. Those who choose to eat out at a restaurant are still encouraged to follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and tables must remain at least 6 feet apart from each other.

This week, Jupiter Town council members voted on their first coronavirus relief package, offering up thousands of dollars to water utility customers.

During the next two monthly payment cycles, Jupiter officials will eliminate a chunk of the bill for local businesses that have taken a financial hit during the pandemic. They estimate it will cost the utility about $780,000.

About 1,330 businesses should benefit. The town is generally including all commercial accounts, except for big box stores that remained open, schools, government facilities, homeowner association spaces, irrigation meters and utility sites.

Many South Florida’s popular attractions are being to reopen to the public in the upcoming days, one of them being the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium which is set to reopen next week after months of being closed.

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is opening this weekend, just in time for Memorial Day. Memorial Day is this upcoming Monday, May 25th.

Good news for beach goers, Martin County will open its beaches to nonresidents starting today, Wednesday, May 20th. Previously, beaches in Martin County have been opened since May 8th to residents only.

For the past few weeks, there were electric signs posted saying that deputies would be checking ID’s and addresses to make sure beach goers lived in Martin County. During this time, Hobe Sound Beach remained closed due to its close proximity to Palm Beach County but is now open for visitors.

Gyms across the state are now open and, although people are eager to get back, many remain leery. If you are considering returning to your local gym (or if you already have) here are some things you can do to minimize your exposure and help keep yourself safe.

Go to the gym during off peak-hours

The risk of infection increased during periods of peak occupancy. Most gyms are busiest between 5:30 and 7pm. If you can avoid those times and instead go in the early morning or during your lunch hour, that would be best.
