Palm Beach County has begun to enter Phase One of Reopening Florida and here is what you need to know about how to stay safe when on the water and how to safely use one of Jupiter’s boating ramps. 

Palm Beach County Officials allowed the use of some recreational facilities for residents on Wednesday, April 29th. The order allowed for certain places to open with rules and restrictions for social distancing and CDC guidelines. 

Boating Rules:

Recreational and commercial boating may resume following capacity restrictions based on the size of the boat. 

Restrictions include: 

Boat 25 foot or less: maximum 6 persons

Boat 26 ft to 36 ft: maximum 8 persons

Boat 37ft to 60 ft: maximum 10 persons

Boat 60 ft and larger: maximum 10…

Businesses throughout Palm Beach County were permitted to open their doors Monday as part of the first phase of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ reopening plan.

The plan includes restricted openings of businesses like barbershops, restaurants, and retail stores.

Here’s a look at some of the Jupiter-area businesses that reopened today, or plan to reopen later:

With the state limiting restaurants to 25 percent of their dining rooms, West Palm Beach officials Monday unveiled a plan to make the businesses more viable by letting table service spill out onto sidewalks, streets, alleyways, and nearby lots.

The “Dining on the Spot” plan comes as the state eases mandates of business closings but seeks to maintain social-distancing and other hygienic requirements to prevent a resurgence of COVID-19 cases.

It could take effect as soon as Friday, city officials said.

Jupiter has a new grocery store chain opening soon.   Aldi, the popular low-cost grocery retailer, has been in the industry since 1976.   Aldi operates in 35 states with nearly 1,700 U.S. stores. The concept implements a cost-effective approach to grocery shopping that saves patrons cash on their grocery bills. 

Aldi began in Germany when two brothers took over their mothers tiny grocery store in 1946.  They built it into one of Germany's largest food retailers, with 300 stores known for its low prices. The Magic Kingdom reopened to the public today, May 11, 2020 with controlled capacity to the public, implementing enhanced health and safety measures.  Exciting news, however, it is not Disney World here in Florida. Although Salons and barbershops were not initially included in Palm Beach County’s “Phase 1” reopening, The governor did decide to make an exception. As with restaurants and retail businesses, salons and barbershops are reopening their doors around Palm Beach County, but under some very heavy restrictions. These include:

  • All customers will be by appointment only

  • Allow at least 15 minutes between the conclusion of an appointment and the beginning of the next appointment for proper disinfecting practices

  • No group appointments are permitted

  • Masks must be worn by all employees while performing personal services.

Good news for shoppers, The Palm Beach Outlets announced late last week that they will be reopening for shoppers today, Monday May 11th. Last week, Governor DeSantis met with Palm Beach County officials and commissioners and agreed to let Palm Beach County enter Phase One of Reopening Florida.

Phase One includes restaurants and retail shops to open with 25% capacity. The Governor also included hair salons, nail salons and barber shops to reopen beginning today as well.

Palm Beach County updated access updates for boating social distancing.  Most of Florida’s coastal counties have opened their beaches. Beaches, boat ramps and other marine access points in Palm Beach and numerous other counties are re-opening.

On April 17, Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-91, which closed all Florida Wildlife Commission maintained boat ramps, marinas and other public access points to the public, as well as State Parks.  State, county and local boat ramps are opening in more locations. 

There are restrictive launching procedures at boat ramps and the number of people aboard. Launch boats one at a time.  Boaters also cannot anchor within 50 feet of another boat.  Single riders only for jet skis, paddleboards, kayaks…
