As we begin another week in quarantine, the Coronavirus Pandemic is affecting millions—both directly and in other ways. It’s important though, that we keep our heads up and remain strong. This doesn’t mean false optimism or burying your head in the sand. Strength comes from staring a problem directly in the face, seeing it for what it is, and concerning ourselves only with those things we have the power to control.

While each of us has a wellspring of strength, we all dredge that strength up in different ways. Some do it through music, others through meditation, and still others by reading and listening to sage advice.

Let your inner baker shine and try out one of our recipes for the perfect homemade cupcakes. 

The Perfect Vanilla Cupcake:

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

2 sticks of butter (softened)

1 ½ cup of sugar

3 large eggs

1 tbsp of pure vanilla extract

2 cups of all-purpose flour

1 ½ tsp baking powder

1 tsp of salt

¾ cup of milk

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line two muffin pans with liners

Yesterday health officials announced that the number of Floridians diagnosed with the Coronavirus has soared to more than 9,000, including 737 in Palm Beach County.

The 1,235 new cases are the most in any 24-hour period since the state confirmed its first case a month ago. The 121 new cases in the county are a 20 percent jump in 24 hours. Statewide, the number of confirmed cases grew by 16 percent in one day.

This all means that we in Palm Beach County need to continue to take social distancing seriously and avoid any kind of unnecessary physical interaction until we have successfully “flattened the curve” in our area.

1. Stick to a routine.  Go to sleep and wake up at a reasonable time, write a schedule that is varied and includes time for work as well as self-care.

2. Dress for the social life you want, not the social life you have.  Get showered and dressed in comfortable clothes, wash your face, brush your teeth.  Take the time to do a bath or a facial.  Put on some bright colors.  It is amazing how our dress can impact our mood.

Many residents of Southeast Florida are anticipating a stimulus check. Who will receive a check?  A Person earning up to $75,000 in adjusted gross income and who has a valid Social Security number will receive a $1,200 payment. That also indicates married couples, filing joint tax returns, will receive the full payment of $2,400 if their reported adjusted gross income is under $150,000. Parents will also receive $500 for each qualifying child.  You must earn at least $2,500 to qualify for the payments.
