The 50-acre site used to be a wastewater treatment facility 20 years ago and the wetlands, now filled with flourishing life, were used as percolation ponds to allow reclaimed water to regenerate the water table.

The ponds and islands around the…

The popular teppanyaki restaurant, Benihana, has locations all over the country- but the closest ones to Palm Beach County were in Stuart and Coral Springs, up until last week. The corporation finally opened a sleek-looking new freestanding restaurant in Boca Raton so we can now enjoy dinner and a show right here in town.

The new location is 8,000 square-feet with 21 teppanyaki tables. (Teppanyaki tables are communal dining tables that have teppan grills on one side so you can watch the chefs make your plate fresh. The chefs put on a fun little show while you're watching them cook, doing things like making onion volcanoes and shaping the food into fun designs). There's also a separate 30-seat full bar with the same menu just no show.

The new…

Hurricane season has arrived once again and it's time to get prepared. With a "slightly above average" season forecasted by the National Weather Service for 2018, the state of Florida is providing an extended tax holiday June 1st-7th for preparations.

This week, you can purchase supplies such as generators, gas, batteries and tarps without paying state or local taxes. It's a good idea to get supplies now as opposed to later, when things get hectic and goods run out, as seen with Hurricane Irma last year. The state of Florida hadn't had a direct hit in over a decade until Hurricanes Hermine and Irma in 2016 and 2017, which left people scurrying for water, gas, etc.

"Now, after being hit by Irma and everything that happened last year, people are…
